Is Morey waiting for him to possible get fired before making a hire?

Seems that the Rockets have interviewed every candidate so I'm wondering if there is a mystery candidate that they are waiting on...

Riley is not firing his protege. That's like asking Rick Adelman to "tutor" his replacement.

IMO they know its casey, barring spectacular second round interviews from frank or mchale. but they can't make the decision official while he's still coaching in the playoffs.

i don't think so. i hope they give him a look before making a decision. i'm sure he'd rather take over for the lakers, but maybe if adelman is brought in he looks to move on. then again, there is a chance that he decides to stay as an assistant in LA under adelman (if adelman will have him, and why wouldn't he?). after all, LA is still a contender. better to win a ring as an assistant than not win one as the head coach of a rebuilding team.

Randy McIlvoy of Local 2(KPRC) said the 3 finalists are led by Casey and "all signs" point to Casey as next coach. fwtw

    Here's a little nugget I found:

There's a guy on the RealGm Warriors board, who apperently knows the agent that reps Dwane Casey and Mike Brown.

He called that those two guys were the front-runners for the Warriors job two days before any media outlet.

Two days ago, he said this:
Could mean nothing, as Casey simply may not be the Warriors' guy, but maybe the Rockets have already promised Casey the job. :)

If Chicago beats Miami, there is a good chance.

No there isn't. The way they've performed in these playoffs has at least bought him anther year. If Pat were healthier then he would just come in and do it himself, but since he isn't, he's not getting rid of Spo.

I think its more about waiting on Dwayne Casey in Dallas then it is Spoelstra.

Spoelstra wont be let go by Miami.... he has done as good of a job as anyone could coach that group. They hit a few speedbumps, but other than that he has done a great job, and is part of the Riley school of coaching.

On a side note, I wouldnt be surprised if Bill Finch from RGV is named the head assistant coach if Casey or Frank are hired. I hope they can find a spot for Mario Elie too since he is a free agent coach.

I think there's still a big possibility that they get rid of Spo. It all depends on if they lose, and how they lose. Now I think the Bulls win in 6, but all games will be closer than game 1. But let's say that the Heat get absolutely embarrased the rest of the series, Lebron has to put the blame on someone, because he'll never take blame, but he'll take credit for good things. The first person Lebron will blame is Spo, especially if he can get the other guys to talk down about Spo, which he already has, then you have the "Big 3" convincing their teammates to go along with it. If it happens like that then there's no doubt he gets fired.
