Rose is not the best point guard. He might be a better player but not the best point guard.

Sort of like Amare Stoudemire being a better "center" than Yao back in the day.

If the Bulls somehow got Deron Williams, he would be starting pg and Rose would be shifted to 2-guard.

I still think a healthy CP3 is the best PG in existence. D-Will and Rose are tied at #2 imo.

Then tell me what a PG is? If a guy brings the ball down the court every play, initiates the offense and guards the opposing PG, why is that not a PG?

I never said Rose is not a point guard. Just not the best PG. Ideally , a PG should not be taking the most shots on the team. I don't think that is a recipe for success. I'm sure that 99 percent of the coaches out there would agree. I wouldn't say that is entirely on Rose though but I have not seen many Bulls games.

By your way of thinking, Amare is the best center in the league.

If Deron and Rose were on the same team, who would be the starting PG and who would the SG in your opnion?

Westbrook don't even really do the point guard role most of the time, he did today though

Cp3 and Dwill are still the best in my opinion followed by Rose... I think Rondo is overrated, if you put either cp3 and Dwill in his place Boston would have won a championship this year.

How exactly by my "way of thinking" is Amare the best C in the league? This should be good.

D-Will and D-Rose are both PGs. Completely irrelevant question. Neither guy plays off the ball. They both initiate.

Maybe you need to watch the Bulls more. They need him to take the most shots. Would be great if the Bulls had a better option than Rose on offense, but they don't. There isn't even a close 2nd.

CP3 is the second best PG now.

but rondo is a true PG, ( more passing, less shooting)

    Agreed.

There is more than one way to play any given position.

Maybe I'm wrong but, is this an apt analogy?

Amare is a center. He is a better player than every other center is the league (except Howard maybe). Therefore, Amare is the best center in the league.

Just change Rose with Amare and center with PG.

Do you think Iverson was the best PG in the league when he was MVP?

From what I have seen of Rose, he seems too trigger happy (sort of like Westbrook). The team has a much better record when he takes less shots. I know that is not a fair statistic, but he does seem to take 4-5 bad shots a game.

We'll see what happens with a 100% Boozer - who is a strong scoring option.

Rose is a deserving MVP no doubt, but if I had Deron Williams on my team, Deron would be the point guard and I would move Rose to shooting guard. Rose just plays a bit more like a combo/shooting guard to me.

Well the question was who is the best PG.

If it was just who is the best player or guard, then you would get different responses.

Some of us just think that Rose could shoot less and pass more.

Whoever is the "best", it's pretty close and largely a matter of opinion.

Just like some people want a defensive, rebounding center and others prefer one with a polished post game and mid-range jumper.

PG is including all the different type of PGs though.

Whether it's purely scoring ones like Curry, passing ones Paul, game managers like Billups, or Combo ones like Westbrook/Rose

If the question was 'Who is the best passing PG' then you take Rose out of the discussion. But if you're talking about best PG period? I think you include all of the options.

For the Amare thing, he hasn't been playing Center all of his NBA career. He's been mostly a PF, meanwhile Rose was and is likely to always play PG. Amare does not play Center unless the team is just devoid of bigs.

Well, before Rose came along it usually was a debate between CP3 or DWill. Some will even be tempted to throw in Westbrook or Rondo into debate, which is all well and fine (respectively). Personally though, I’d take D Will, but it all depends on what team your talking about.

    Put it this way…

If I were the Lakers, I’d want Paul

If I were on the Heat, I’d want D Will.
