Apparently these shots make you grow taller? Anyone have any personal experience with this type of treatment?
Yeah, each shot at least costs $25. And you have to take a shot or two every day. So you could be spending around $750-$1000 a month on this treatment.
I hear it's about 10k a year. I'd rather run that than some stupid marathon to prevent sick kids or something.
My brother is a Pediatric Endocrinologist. That's fancy talk for a child hormone specialist. He's allowed to prescribe this. His son wasn't getting as tall as expected. We are all over 6'. For some misguided reason, he prescribed it to his son at age 12. He grew, but developed a condition that makes your cartilage die. By age 16 he was like Brandon Roy with old man knees, and had to stop playing tennis.
I think for people less than 21 years old, you can still grow taller until this age. Provided you eat well, drink milk, and get plenty of sleep. By the way, I was 6'1" when i was 18 years old and started going to the gym. I've heard that weight training has an effect on your growth. Thou I'm not sure of the accuracy of this claim, I have to say i never grew taller since then. And i guess i owe my height to my genes too, from my spanish and chinese ancestry. (Not so much from my Filipino ancesry thou, hehe.)
It could make you taller. It could enlarge your jaw bone. Basically, it can make anything that happen that was possible when you were 16. But this isn't a good thing, and it's not a controllable thing. There are people who screw up, and it changes the way their face looks, makes one leg taller than the other, etc. It's not something you should mess around with unless there's an expert medical professional advising you.
