I was reviewin the history of the Rockets and the Grizz over the last 6 seasons

    and noticed the following facts:

    No Grizzlies or Rockets team since 2005/2006 has made the playoffs without Shane Battier on its roster at the end of the season.

    Only one Rockets or Grizzlies team were .500 or above without Battier on its roster at the end of the season-- this year's Rockets.

    On the other hand, when a Grizzlies or Rockets team had Shane Battier at the end of the season, they have a 83.3% chance of being in the playoffs and a 100% chance of being over .500.

    so are you saying if shane didn't go down with last season Rockets would've been in the playoffs?

    So you're saying Shane Battier has made the playoffs a few times and the Grizzlies sucked until this year? Cool, that's very informative!

    So .... if a team wants to be over .500 they need to sign that Battier this summer!!

    Sort of reminds of that string that Robert Horry and Steve Kerr put up. IIRC, one of them was on an NBA Championship team for 8 years running.

    We can either choose to believe they were driving the bus. Or that Duncan, Dream, Shaq or MJ were in the drivers' seat. :grin:

    I have been doing some ready and noticed.... neither the Rockets or the Grizzlies have won an NBA title since Olajuwon was on one of their rosters.

    Just thought I would add that tidbit to the useless information in this thread...

    How did Morey and his team overlook this statistic? If they really are leading the way in advanced analytics he would've realized this stat, and kept battier this year and we'd probably be finishing off the thunder right now.
