Firing Richard Justice would be an intriguing gamble for the Chronicle.

We fired Adelman for a chance to make a run at McHale???

    WTF?

When pride gets in the way of thinking, even smart people do stupid things.

If the reason for letting go of Adelman was that he didn't agree with the team building goals, why would they want to risk hiring a coach who has actually tried his hands on team building as a GM--and has failed miserably?

Look, if you're looking for a candidate whose going to bust his tail and keep the organization's best interest in his sights.. I can't tell you Kevin McHale is the right guy. I can't tell you he's the best guy for the job. I can't even tell you he's the best coach available within a 50 mile radius. What I will say is.. he's got potential...

McHale could be the best decision you ever made.. or he could be the worst decision you ever made. You ever play Russian Roulette? Time to spin the chamber, Daryl.

    Those are some good points.

It all depends on the supporting cast of coaches...

I don't see it that way. The guy they eventually hire has to buy in to the front office philosophy, McHale being a former general manager may be more willing to accept some sort of FO meddling than the average coach, I think the fact he has been on both sides makes him a plus (not saying he is my favorite).

    This ^

Not only that, but since the T-Wolves have a high pick this year, he could convince his former pupil (Kahn) to trade the pick to us at a cheaper price. :)

Hmm, if it's McHale, can we start with the conspiracy theories?!?

Bill Simmons and Daryl Morey are friends.
Simmons is a HUGE Celtics fan, Morey used to work for the Celtics.
McHale helped build the current Celtics' Big 3 by trading Garnett to his old team lead by his buddy, Danny Ainge.

Wonder who the Celtics would want from our roster or vice versa?!? Maybe McHale has the right to call-in a favor from the C's for the Garnett deal?!?

Yeah, if we value people who beat us in the Finals ('86), look like Dirk Nowitzki crossed with Ernest Borgnine, and automatically drive B-Bob away from his lifelong favorite team, McPhale would be a fantastic choice.

I would want a guy that would get ticked off at his players for screwing up. From what I've seen on tnt and nba tv McHale doesn't seem that way. Then again, the respect he would command from the players is undeniable, so he wouldn't really have to yell at his players.

Not sure if McHale would be a Houston "loyalist" either. Though you can point out that McHale as a player played for one team for his entire career. And he was with the WOLVES for 15 years. So he shows he can make himself a long term guy in the framework of an organization.

As a coach, I see McHale's "presentation" in the area of the Chuck Daly, Hubie Brown, Rudy Tomjanovich (without the alcohol) types. Respectful guys who are players coaches and still have a brand of toughness in their reputation. Though we know NOTHING about McHale's ability in the Xs and Os strategy.

Morey isn't looking for a coach. He's looking for a motivational speaker.

I like Mchale alot, plus he has gm experience. He was doing a pretty good job until jefferson went down. Frank is terrible and players dont believe what he is selling. I also like casey alot also. He is one of mchale mistakes for being fired. He's solid, paid his dues, and deserves another chance.
