Could the vacancy possibly attract the Rockets coaching candidates? Let's be honest, if both teams where settled on the same coach, more than likely that coach would pick the Lakers and the Rockets would then have to settle for a coach that was not at the top of their list.
I don't think so. The pressure to "win now" in LA is unbearable. The Media, the fact that you have to deal with Kobe's ego will not attract coaches like it attracts NBA players now-a-days.
I would think the Laker's will go for a high profile, experienced coach with extensive playoff experience and a strategy as to how to deal with an older team with an injury prone center. We just fired ours. So my answer would be -- no.
i think they'll probably get adelman or shaw. neither were going to be in houston's future plans, so no it won't hurt us
It's possible. The Lakers are the Yankees of the NBA. It would be some coaches dream to coach that franchise.
Possibly. All depends on if they go with Shaw, if Shaw would have legitimately considered Houston, and if Shaw actually winds up becoming a decent coach. Personally, I like Shaw.
I say yes. Isn't everyone looking for a head coach that is willing to play devin ebanks and other projects?
Bucher was discussing this earlier on SportsCenter...says Brian Shaw since he's familiar with the triangle and Rick Adelman.
I dont think ANY of the coaches we are looking at would fit LA's diva profile.......Rudy T. broke through the Matrix though....But thats a once in a lifetime thing
No. The Rockets are down to 3 guys--McHale, Casey, Frank. It was and is unlikely the Lakers hire any of those guys.
I'm pretty sure Brian Shaw is the guy the Lakers have been set on for a while now. I don't think anybody the Rockets are really targeting is on the Lakers radar. Frank and Casey seem to be the guys the Rockets really want, and I don't see the Lakers hiring either of them. Brian Shaw and Rick Adelman are pretty much the only two I can see taking the LA job, and I've gotta give Shaw a slight edge since he's familiar with the system, and already has a great relationship with the players.
Sacramento would lose their minds....But it would be interesting if he brought in Webber, Divac, and Stojakovic as assistants.....Best way to destroy a powerhouse is infiltrate from within!!....Sacramento would have their ultimate revenge....
I will not be surprised if JVG goes there. Kobe said overtly several times that he wanted JVG if Phil is gone.
