Wow! Huge start for Cleveland last night! 67 points on 33% shooting and 20 turnovers! Sacramento tried to step it down last night with 19 turnovers of its own and only 19 first quarter points, but Cleveland wouldn't be denied in its quest for futility. Truely an inspiring performance that will go down in tanking history. The Nuggets shouldn't have too much trouble with KG and the Timberwolves tonight and should be able to keep pace with Cleveland in the Lebron-a-thon. T-Wolves 115 Nuggest 87 Come on, Denver! 8-74, baby! Don't be denied!
The lottery race has started with a BANG! With their inexplicable offseason moves or lack thereof, it's become clear that the Nuggets and Cavliers are the preseason favorites. However, with Denver playing in the West, I don't think the Cavs have anything on the Nugs. They just have so little to work with, and the fact that they will be outmatched at every position on the floor will only work to their advantage. Lebron James is going to truly uninspire this team to achieve a whole little, which is why I hear they have hung his SI cover over the doorway in their home locker room, even going as far as watching Lebron highlights to pump down the team before games. The Nuggets coaching staff is doing everything within their power to ensure the team keeps that high level of unmotivated play at a consistent level throughout the entire season.
I've enjoyed listening to the Cavaliers' lies this year. It's almost comical. Reporter: So, Mr. Paxson, people are saying--indeed, even former Cavs are saying--that you're tanking the season to get a shot at LeBron James. Any truth to that? Paxson: That's an absolute falsehood. It would be completely unprofessional as a GM for me to do that. (nose starts to grow) Besides, the worst team really only has a 25% shot at the #1 pick. (nose now a foot long; starting to resemble elf with hard-on) Uh, we think we got fair value in the Miles-Miller trade. Is it hot in here? (sweat makes TV makeup drip from his face) Er, uh, the check is in the mail. No? How about, I used to play guitar for Bon Jovi. Um....it's OK, you won't get pregnant, I've had a vasectomy? Reporter: That's enough.
The fun began slowly as James patiently blended into the flow. Then, suddenly, he found his groove. He held his own against Jones and against Anderson. The 6-7 James slashed to the basket and he nailed jumpers from the outside. His play also included a swift shake and dribble around his defender where he went to the other side of the rim for a quick reverse slam that generated this response from Lucas: "We got to have him. We got to have him." Indeed.
I watched some of that Cleveland game last night and they have NOBODY who can hit an outside shot consistantely. I think the announcers said that cleveland shot a grand total of 13 3-pointers during the entire preseason and only hit 1. Like other have said let the race for a Lebron begin
Cleveland was only so bad because they were missing the marquee player - when Ilgauskus plays tonight it'll be a different story......... Or not....
not sure about the 13 in the preseason but i'm almost sure i heard an announcer (or somebody on tv) say their entire roster hit 13 3's ALL OF LAST SEASON!!! i refuse to believe that b/c it seems impossible. that essentially means everyone hit one freaking 3 last season. i guess only making one in the preseason isn't out of the question then.
Nugs are going to be more competitive than you think. We still won't win more than 25, but we're gonna be a royal pain in the ass to teams expecting an easy win. Nene for rookie of the year!
The cavs look like they're using the "stand around and watch dribbling offense" against LA clips... now where have I seen that before?
league pass, it's the best game of the night, went down to the wire and Ilgauskas won it with a jumper with 2 seconds left
in retrospect, i guess it was well worth watching. i've got league pass but decided to pass on that game after seeing a little of the cavs in their first game. maybe zyd makes a difference. and damn, that line for elton. makes ming look like he played well tonight.
He's still coming back from an injury, one that many thought would keep him out of a week or two of the regular season. He'll be fine.
Anyone think Memphis will be down in lottery heaven? I dont particularly like either Dallas or Memphis. But that game last night was fun to watch with all of that offense. Personally, Im suprised that Jerry West did not go after Andre Miller before he was sent to the Clippers. Memphis would have had a nice team with him at the point. Andre Miller, Michael Dickerson, Shane Battier, Drew Good and Paul Gasol with Wright, Swift, etc. coming off the bench. Not a bad little team that could have been!
