I've been waiting on a decent trailer to post this thread. One popped up recently. <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JLtyuLGsj8Y" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" width="640"></iframe> I'm a big Conan fan- I've read over 50 of the books, own the first comic and the original Conan is one of my favorite movies (although the second one was utter muff cabbage). I was skeptical about this movie when I first read about it; Jason Mamoa has a strong Polynesian islander look to him and Conan is a northman. But the trailers look promising. Two gripes: -Conan has noted blue eyes- how hard was it to give the guy contacts? -It's spelled and pronounced co-NAN not co-NEN. Damn Yankee actors.
Always been a fan of the original movies, but this one doesn't do it for me. I do at least like their choice for Conan though.
I would be up in arms about this movie being remade if they hadn't cast Momoa. I'll check it out for sure.
said it before and i'll say it again, the guy just doesnt seem to fit the part (size wise) but then again, arnold ruined it for anyone else. I also agree with Xerobull...his polynesian characteristics just dont seem to fit. that being said, i will probably check it out but i better here "what is good in life?" "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women."
What is up with Hollywood messing up with character's races? It's like they let their 5 year old nephews pick actors/actresses while being blindfolded. I thought they tried to make everyone white (i.e. prince of persia), but when there are finally characters that are supposed to be white, they go and hire the other guys. With that out of my chest, this movie seems mediocre at best. I'm guessing they're going for agility with this Conan in contrast to Ahhnold's sheer power and awesomeness. The thinner Polynesian guy is not what comes to mind when the word barbarian comes to mind. Seems like a good DVD popcorn movie though.
This conan just looks pissed off, he's trying too hard. For movies like this i'd prefer less CGI as well.

After reading the title of the movie and then you see a puny/slightly ripped guy on screen...just doesn't scream blockbuster. Bold = essentially what it is.
The new trailer looks slick...and VERY violent. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/afKRndn5FKk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
This guy really only has one mode as an action character - pissed off. I don't think the choice to use him was terrible but it wasn't that great either. I give it a C.
If you think this guy can't play the character, you obviously didn't watch Game of Thrones: <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0HqdSjdtPAQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Sometimes I think the only reason for certain lines in these films are so that the trailers will be sick. I don't know how many times I've went to the theater expecting a line to knock my socks off only to be disappointed with the way it is inserted into the film. Is this just me? BTW "I think he likes you" is the line in question.
