It's a California import just like In-n-out.........but it's a grocery store, not fast food. But I love me some Trader Joes. They have their own brand of 100% blue agave tequilla that is pretty decent for $19.99 for a fifth.
The kid and I went up there about a month and a half ago to visit mom; her company puts her up at the Sheraton Suites downtown, and of course, we couldn't use the mini fridge because it was stocked with stuff they were trying to sell us. We kept the room comfortably warm, but I noticed how cold it was close to the windows (you go into a restaurant during the winter there, and nobody sits near the windows). Anyway, I had to have my coke zero fix, so I put a few two liters on the window sill (we're talking the inside here.....the windows don't open or anything). Anyway.......they froze solid overnight. All three of them. The way I like to explain it is: 90 is to 32 what 32 is to -26. Three of the nine days we were there.........it got colder than -26. Crazy stuff. Gonna be quite a change for this born and bred Texan.
In states where grocery stores are not allowed to sell wine or liquor, what Trader Joe has done is opening a TJ Wine/Liquor store right next door to the main grocery store. I imagine something similar is in the works.
I like their plantain chips, chocolate chip cookies, white cheddar popcorn, jojo's which are oreos without transfats. Pretty much junk food like it was in the 80s w/o HFCS and transfats. Not much healthier lol...
this is great news! i tried a couple of their $2.99 a sixer beers a couple weeks ago in santa cruz and they were pretty tasty.
i had another pint + of another one of their beers for $1.99. oh and i'd kill for some of their mini peanut butter cups right about now. or the sweet and spicy pecans. or the smores. OR WHOOPIE PIES.
And they have the best dried apricots ever. They are like dried fruit and nut mecca. The peppermint oreos around the holidays are the bomb, and they just have a lot of random really good stuff at good prices.
Hopefully it doesn't take as long to put up as the Whole Foods on Dallas and Waugh. p.s. Why does Dallas get everything first
