Casey doesn't deserve to go home at all, imo. He's the only one that has shown any kind of range as to different styles of music... and he's actually pretty damn good at all of them. Haley was my favorite performance of the night. She took a bit of a risk with a very current song, but I think it paid off.

I was somewhat impressed with Lauren. I thought she did better than she usually does, but I didn't like the song choice. If it would have been my decision, I would have gone with something like Stay by Sugarland. Or like Steven Tyler said, Allison Krauss would have been a good choice. Vocally, Sara Evans made sense, but damn was it safe.

Everyone else was pretty mediocre. I was so happy the judges finally called out Scotty for showing absolutely no range in his song choices. He doesn't have to go with a drastic change, but damn man give me something else. Even a different genre song with his own country twist on it would be fine in my book.

Jacob was good once again, but he's pretty much in the same boat as Scotty.

James' performance was such a love/hate performance that I wouldn't be surprised if he was the highest vote getter this week, or if he was sent home. Personally, I liked the first half of it, but when he went into that high note screeching stuff, he completely lost me. I'd still keep him around, though, taking his past performances into consideration.

Stefano's gotta go. I mean this guy is as average as it gets in terms of American Idol talent.

^I agree about Casey. I don't think he should get sent home either but he's been in the bottom 3 twice now. Just don't know how much longer he'll last.

Stefano has to go though. He's just bland next to the remaining artist.

Good Lord, Stefano's version of "Closer" just sucked so bad. He was clearly trying too hard in the chorus.

He should have been long gone if not for the throngs of young fan girls sending speed votes in droves.

Yep. Time is just about up for Stefano.

Scotty finally got nicked by the judges, which was surprising, but he is more than safe.

Sad to see Stefano go but his time was up - it was going to be hard to see him to continue to advance, considering who was still left. Really touching to see James' reaction and I loved how he bearhugged Stefano at the end. You can really tell that they have a close friendship.

On another note, did anybody happen to see what Jennifer Lopez was wearing?? Good lord is all I have to say! I used to not be a fan but I do have to admit that she is an extremely attractive female.

On another note, part 2 - also interesting to see Kanye make a surprise appearance with Katy Perry.

EDIT - just found out that Kanye actually performed on the remix to that song so I guess it was not that surprising that he would be there. Shows how out of touch I am with the current pop music scene, lol.

Glad to see Stefano go home, he clearly was not even good enough (IMO) to make it this far.

I still do not understand how Haley was in the bottom three again. She is a great talent and extremely attractive.

I think that Jacob will be next to go, and hopefully James after that..

odd about today's elimination show... i thought everyone sounded like crap except James and Kanye. Esp. all the other contestants, but also David Cook, Katy Perry

Makes me wonder if James is the only one who can sing out of his comfort zone pretty well

    Rankings of the Top 6

    1 - James
    2 - Lauren
    3 - Scotty
    4 - Casey
    5 - Haley
    6 - Jacob

I still think it is James' competition to win or lose at this point. Lauren has really gained some steam in the last couple of weeks - will be interesting to see if she keeps up the momentum. Scotty has yet to be in the bottom 3 and he is the darkhorse to win it. Can't see Jacob and Haley making it to the final 4 although Casey could get knocked out with a bad performance and the same goes for Lauren, too.

Haven't seen too much in the last few weeks because the judges endless praise for the contestants has both annoyed and bored me.

But from the clips Ive seen from this past week...I'm starting to think Haley has a Kelly Clarkson factor going for her. Kinda buried earlier in the show, but then slowly starting to rise above the rest. Starting to like her more and more, thinking she can win it. At least for me...I guess the votes haven't quite followed her yet.

And Casey has been the exact opposite. He just doesn't have a great voice. Think he would be better off being eliminated and finding a band where he doesn't have to be the frontman.

James continues to suck with his Adam Lambert-style screaming.

    Scotty is as Scotty does.

Stefano is a likable kid but agreed totally that at this point his voice wasn't good enough to carry him any further. He would be best suited in a boy band or something where the teenage girls could still worship him and performance-wise he wouldn't have to be the lead guy.

    Some quick thoughts from Wednesday/Thursday:

-Look out for Haley! She's growing on me and over the past 3-4 weeks has really come on strong due to great song choices and killer performances. Agreed totally with what JunkyardDawg was saying. At first, she was kind of sleepy/boring and was just doing enough to survive. Now? She's starting to kick it into another gear.

-I liked James' version of Uprising better than I liked the actual original version by Muse. Very cool effect with the drummers too. He's done a good job of shedding the 'Adam Lambert Lite' label. Lambert was more on the pop side of things, whereas James is distinguishing himself as strictly a rocker. I like it.

-That booted contestant version of the Pink song was awful. Especially Paul. Good God was he bad.

-Scotty looks like he's not even taking the competition seriously when he's out there. At least he did this week. Everything from his goofy on-stage mannerisms to cracking jokes when the judges [gulp] actually criticized him....for once. Stop trying to be cute, dude.

Anyway, my rankings from here on out:

    1) James
    2) Lauren
    3) Haley
    4) Scotty
    5) Casey
    6) Jacob

P.S. Keeping my fingers crossed that Steven will actually criticize somebody at some point.

    yesterday, for me:

    Lauren
    Scotty
    James
    Casey
    Haley
    Jacob

The duets were terrible. And I think the judges overrated James somewhat. But the top 3 were all really good...Lauren and Scotty were awesome in their 1st halves and somehow tailed off a little bit in the 2nd half. Could have been perfect moments

If it were entirely up to me, Scotty would be going home tonight. He pretty much does the same exact thing every week, and while he is certainly good at what he does, he just doesn't bring any variety to the table at all. He's a deep voiced country singer that's most likely going to do the same exact type of songs every other country singer is doing out there right now.

I just get the feeling that if I listened to one of his albums, I'd be kind of into it for the first 2-3 songs, and then the rest of it I'd just be asking "Haven't I heard this song already?"

With that being said, I have a terrible feeling that this entire season is going to come down to Lauren and Scotty.... which is seriously the worst possible thing that could happen.

So, my prediction is that Haley goes home tonight. I don't want her to. In fact, I'd almost rather have anyone else (minus maybe James and Casey) go home, but I just got a feeling it will be her turn tonight.

Haley I think has become my favorite. She's got a great voice and seems really confident and comfortable on stage.

Jacob should go, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.

really, you didn't think this week was different? I thought this was the most different Scotty has sounded, which is why I wasn't tired of it after not being happy w/him the last few weeks

Jacob should go, but I could see it being Haley. She wasn't very good this week comparatively

casey had so much potential. he screwed it up by doing all the awful growling. with that being said, tonight was probably the most entertaining elimination performance ever lmao oh and rumor has it that hayley and casey have a thing going....tonight pretty much confirmed that :)

sad to see Casey go home, but that's the flipside of the risks he took. At least it looks like he has Haley locked up.
