JR Smith would be a nice add. Superstar talent that may just need a change of scenery. Hard to believe he's only 25.

I'm hoping for big things to happen this off-season but I doubt much will. I'm bored so this is what I want the rockets to do. Re-sign Hayes to a short term contract. Trade Thabeet, Scola, and T-Will for Nene. Draft Jordan Hamilton with the 14th pick, package Hill and the 23rd pick to move up between 15-18 and draft Markieff Morris, and get Jordan Williams with the 38th pick. I think Cousin can be a good filler. Miller can be our Brian Cook for a while lol. I think Hamilton and Morris can contribute immediately and send Williams to the D-league. Patterson and Hayes would be great off the bench together.

    PG- Lowry, Dragic
    SG- Martin, Lee
    SF- Hamilton, Bud
    PF- Morris, Patterson, Cousin
    C- Nene, Hayes, Williams, Miller

That's a very outrageous sqaud you have there but honestly at this stage, i'm up for any changes. As long as it doesn't mean giving up a leader for a bust.

It could just be me, but I strongly believe in Patterson's upside. My theory is that it's HUGE! Anybody who watched Rockets games where exposed to his strong defensive game, blocking, stealing and cloggin' the lane. As for his offensive arsenal, it's a young A'mare Stoud-like game; Mid-range shot, 3 point range (under-ratted) and his jammin' ability consistantly can be jaw dropping.

Luis 6th man, P2 starter, here we go ROX 2011-12?
I won't make promises, un-like our beloved Morey.

Maybe it's just me, but my main goals for the off-season and next season would be to develop what we have rather than keep adding new elements and messing with the chemistry. The bunch of players we have now is great, we just need a good 5 man with height. I certainly wouldn't be advocating in favour of spending a lot of money to attempt to sign someone like Marc Gasol when a year later we could spend a lot of money to attempt to sign Dwight Howard. For me the off-season moves would be minimal, shoring up the 5 spot either with draft picks or trading the picks for a solid 5 (i'm not looking at a star, just solid.) I'd actively pursue signing Yao to a minimum contract, because if he get's healthy I can still see some solid numbers offensively, and his height makes a huge difference. Hayes, Martin, Lowry and Patterson stay no matter what. Prefer to keep Bud, Lee and Scola but would consider moving for the right pieces or cap-room to aim for Howard. T-Will, gets half a season to show worth, if he's a no-go then offload him for picks in '12. I honestly think our roster as-is is competitive, hell, we had a great run post-all star break, I say we run with it and aim for big moves in '12 off-season, where the fruits are a little tastier.

Oh I forgot to mention, if the Lakers made a powerplay for Howard in '12 we might have a shot at Bynum. I'd take Bynum at the 5.

Hayes does not do anything well except post defense. He's a great guy, sure. But if our team have to rely on Chuck Hayes playing 25 minutes a game or more to win games, that will get us nowhere. We're not in the SVG era anymore where defense trumps everything else.

Hayes is good enough to win us games here and there, but he is not a playoff quality Center. Having Hayes will just mean another 10th seed yet again.

Rebuild? - Hayes has no upside.

Contend? - Hayes can't be relied on.

I love Chuck, but he is too limited.

1: let Chuck walk. He deserves to play on a contender and will help teams like Boston, Chicago greatly. Its time for us to send Chuck into bigger and better things.

2: make clear what the untouchables are: in my opinion the untradeable players are:
    Kevin Martin
    Patrick Patterson
    Kyle Lowry

trade the rest and prepare for 2012 free agency

    there is no other way

I believe Yao Ming and Chuck need to be back so long as they can be signed to a reasonable contract. I'm not sure what that would be for Chuck but certainly well under MLE (closer to the LLE) for Yao.

I would take DeAndre Jordan or Marc Gasol but they are both restricted free agents and I just don't see their respective teams letting them walk. Wilson Chandler falls in the same category, as a restricted free agent there is no way Denver lets him walk.

Samuel Dalembert is really the only player in your 1st list that I think we have a realistic chance to acquire and I would certainly try get him. Tyson Chandler is also unrestricted but he loves playing in Dallas and Marc Cuban will pay to make sure he stays in Dallas.

On your second list I would love to have Shane back as a coach but I got sick of watching him in the starting line-up. I was thankful the day he traded so RA could not start him. AK47 and Tayshaun Prince would both be fantastic additions for a team that is ready to compete but I'm not sure I want them on a team that I am building for the future. I guess it just depends what we can get from the draft and how we address the Center position as to how interested I would be in paying one of those two players.

Obviously IMO top priority is getting a quality Center. I would make a hard push at acquiring Dalembert, re-sign Yao (on the cheap) and my draft targets would be Biyombo, Kanter or Valanciunas with my first pick.

SF IMO is my second priority. Chase is a quality starter IMO but he is not particularly exceptional at anything. I think he makes a really good 4th option on offense and can obviously hurt opposing teams really bad when he is in the right frame of mind. However, he has the mental make up of a complimentary player. If I could get Chandler I would but that is just not happening. I would try to address this in the draft with Chris Singleton using my second pick.

Rookie status with over 5,000 posts!?!?!

Hayes is one of the top 10 defenders in the entire league.

I've been saying we sign DeAndre Jordan

Or try to make a deal with Washington and pick up Javale McGee he's a monster at blocking and could be an explosive on the rockets fast break. With this deal I could foresee having to take rashard lewis. I would deal Jordan Hill, T Will, & and some draft picks for this. Ya'll tell me about sweeting the deal to make this happen

That's a young firing clipper team you're talking about. Letting Jordan walk will not be on the clipper's agenda to say the least. But our best bet is to package a deal for the big fella. Through FA, we have slim hope.

However, when the head coaching spot is determined, that is when our fate is drawn out. For FA, draft and for the future  .

It's about time the promises are fulfilled and the lies are boxed away, isn't it 'sir'?
Yeah that's a rhetorical right at ya, 'Daryl'.

I'd offer him a posion pill contract so Memphis has to overpay.

    I would target the following:

    (C/PF)
Tyson Chandler - likely to stay in DAL, difference maker on D
DeAndre Jordan - may want to come home to HOU, but LAC wont let him walk
Marc Gasol - NO WAY they let him leave after playoff run
Sam Dalembert - BEST TARGET @ 5 spot for us, i'm sure he wants out of SAC
Joel Przybilla - often injured but active and BIG, imo will be "so-so" option
Nenad Kristic - proving to be useful in BOS, can play 5 & 4 spot
Kris Humphries -very active and aggressive,NJ wont let him leave, fits our team
Jason Smith - more of a 4 because of his thin frame, but he is 7ft w/ a shot
Carl Landry - wants to come back, and better than J-Hill. worth a roster spot

    (SF/PF)
Wilson Chandler -#1 TARGET, 2-way player that should get 5-7 mil per
Jeff Green - 2-way player, athletic, defensive, with range, NO BRAINER !!!
Thaddeus Young - aggressive, defensive, talented, SF. 6ers wont let walk
Caron Butler - wont leave DAL
AK47 - older player that should make us competitive w/ the right Center
Tayshan Prince - worth getting on the cheap, MLE at the max
Mike Dunleavy - may be an upgrade from C-Bud but too pricey

    (SG)
Arron Affalo - part of the new DEN core, they wont let him leave
JR Smith - better than t-will, but will cost more than c-lee,

I THINK WE SHOULD REALISTIC TRY TO GET

    Optimistic Pick-Ups
    DeAndre Jordan (C)
    Wilson Chandler (SF)

    REALISTIC PICK-UPS
    Sam Dalembert
    Tayshan Prince
    Carl Landry

I'd love to see Landry back in a Rockets uniform, but only if we can get a good trade for Scola. Pointless having Scola, Landry AND Patterson.

I honestly don't want DeAndre. Being in LA+ being on a young, interesting team+ CONTRACT YEAR means that he's getting way too much hype for a guy who's really not all that great. I'm fairly certain whatever team signs for the 8-9 million+ he's looking to command in this market will regret it.

My first list is just the ideal picks. Unfortunately, most of them are restricted and we have no chance of getting them.
The second list is a list of mostly veterans that I'd try to get cheap.

I agree that we should re-sign Hayes and Yao ($4 and $2 million=MLE), try to get Dalembert (maybe the only realistic option) and find some C/SF talent in the draft (good thing: it is stacked with SFs around 10th-20th pick; bad thing: all somewhat valuable centers will go in the top 10 (exception of Nogueira at 20th, who'll probably stay in Brazil for a couple of years more)).

P.S. I would love getting W. Chandler, and then trade up in the draft. Too bad it's just a dream.

We are in FULL player development mode.

And we need to go HUGE!

    Bring in Deandre Jordan.

    PF/Chuck Hayes+Patrick Patterson
    C/Deandre Jordan+Hasheem Thabeet

PLAY HASHEEM THABEET. It is the only way he can get better.

Develop Patterson behind Chuck. Let Chuck teach them all how to play defense.

In a few years we will have a massive team with several solid bigs to throw around in the playoffs, meanwhile we will semi-tank for that top gun star.

AGAIN, we must develop our CENTERS.

Bring Deandre Jordan and Hasheem Thabeet up to speed. Let them split minutes and block 10 shots a game.

GIVE PATRICK THE GREEN LIGHT. GIVE HIM STAR CONFIDENCE!

Amen. Stockpill our ''assests'' for a top 5 pick in the draft? What do ya say? It's quite possible. It isn't a strong or deep draft.
