Thanks to Carl for the laugh..... I am all for bringing in a Casey or another tenured assistant and then pairing him with someone like ET. I don't want to just give ET the keys to the car. The coach we have has to negate the negative perception the majority of players probably have.
Hogan's height shrinkage was astounding. He went from 6'8, 6'7, and as the current Rent-A-Center spokesman standing next to 6'4 Troy Aikman the man is more like 6'3 at most. What happened?
Lol AND Smh @ you an anyone else that thinks that Morey n company will tank ANY year. It's not hard to see that the Rocket aren't too far off from being contenders. The only thing Rockets lacked this year is a defensive presence IN the paint and rebounding. Not to discredit Hayes' defense at all...but once the players were in the paint it was a problem. Tank for 2-3 years? Cassell just might actually be a good head coach. But that's just my opinion.
Morey has said it many times that a HEALTHY Yao is about +8 wins. That would mean getting a true All-Star center would get us to 50-51 wins. That is a 5th seed and not an actual championship contender, even with a massive Dwight Howard-like addition to the current roster.
I think Casselle would be a great coach. He's a nit-picking type and nobody can deny this. He was on the case of his teammates for missing assignments and not paying attention to detail. It's just too bad for the Wizards that Saunders and not he that was the head coach this season.
I know there's a lot of nostalgia for former Rockets from the championship years, but can't we do better that a couple of coaches that have only been assistants for a couple of years on ****ty teams? At least Elie had a couple of years with the Mavs. But I'm not particularly fond of bringing in either to be head coach.
I'd be willing to bet Sam will not be our next coach. I think the Rockets are doing Elie and Cassell favors by allowing them to interview.
You have GOT to be kidding me. I love the guy, but come on, the idea of going from Rick Freakin' Hall of Fame Adelman to Sam Cassell makes my head hurt.
The guy was a winner throughout his career (he took the ****ing Clippers to the second round). 1 vote for yes. Tho opponents might play the Katy Perry song at road games to attempt to get into his head.
I realize that almost anybody is a downgrade from Rick (it'll take somebody extremely special to be an upgrade) but why are you writing off Sammy? Why can't he be a great coach? I am interested in knowing.
He might preach a good defense and offense but preaching and knowing how to construct plays and on the fly adjustments is another thing. I think it would take years to establish that type of coaching.
