Yep...if they're allowed unlimited voting Yao just might make it.

Yo, Freak....give this season some time! The season doesn't start until Wednesday. Then we can see how he does. I just want him to contribute at the 5 and help this team get to the playoffs.

All-Star Caliber player: I would give him 2 more years.

    They are...

I remember back in 8th grade or so, hanging by Foot Locker at Memorial City Mall, constantly stuffing the ballot to make sure that Hakeem started over David Robinson.

    Ah, the good old days...

I agree for the 2 year grace period until he becomes an all star caliber player. However, what I think he is trying to say is that if there is allstar voting in china he will surely make the team because of how many people live there and how much they love YAO

In China, Yao was already an All-Star there, and the guy is barely over 20!! He's an icon over there. But over here in the NBA, he's going to have to earn it.....like Jordan, Shaq, Pierce, etc. did.

I watched Yao Ming's game for 6 years from 1996 in Shanghai, this kid has been giving us surprises each and every year. When he first got on the court, I told myself this kid was way too skinny, he was like 7-1 and just over 200 pounds. Now he was huge, and I guess soon he will become a monster. Many of you guys must have seen a photo of Shaq in his 13, the same skinny guy, so give Yao Ming some time, I bet with a better brain he can dominate the league in 5 years, when Shaq is about to retire like a 486, haha!

Yao Ming may get the All-Star game votes, but I would like him to show Da L how it's done from the rookie standpoint, that he was the best player that came out of the draft. I want to see him dominate in the Rookie game. That would be sweet!

balloonstyle:- He wont be the dominent player till our leader passes out more assists and concentrates on his team winning, not on becoming MVP. Being part of a Championship Team must be the goal of every player. Our leader has the ability to be a great player, I just hope he is also a great leader!

Will Yao even be on the ballot this year? Can a team have more than one center on the ballot? If Cato can average 10 boards and 2 blocks a game, and continues to start, won't he be on the ballot instead of Yao Ming?

I think Ming would be embarrased if he made the all-star team by getting voted in by the fans and he didn't deserve it. I hope this doesn't happen because it would give the naysayers one more thing to critize him about.

I hope Yao will be in the All star game for playing well and not due to popularity. I don't want to give the haters more room to say he's over-hyped and over-rated.

It's not about the stats that Yao will put up. We're talkin about a potential of 1.5 billion votes for Yao Ming. Even if he has 8 ppg 5 rpg, he will be a starter if what Cujo is saying is true.

It would be awesome if he makes it based on the Chinese vote....it would teach the NBA the hard lesson about technology.

Lets see if Ming makes the Rookie game this year first!

Nothing against Ming, but if Rudy keeps limited Ming to 12-15 mpg and 3-7 apg, he may be the next Griffin.

I have no doubt he will work his way into the offensive system by the all star break. But will he be invited to the Rookie game, if he has Kwame Brown's numbers his first half season?

I would only want to see Yao get voted in if he is indeed, the best center in the West at the mid way point this year. I think it will mean alot more. I would hate to see Yao start when he doesnt deserve to and then get bashed by the media because of it. I know its all about "who the fans want to see". However, Hakeem lost several All-Star starting assignments because of the media hyped David Robinson vote.

I wish they would make the starting assignments based on coach's and player's votes as well as the fan's votes. I think it would be more fair that way.

The NBA fans are horrible about voting based on previous years instead of the present. In 92 Majic was voted to the starting lineup eventhough he had retired. Heck last year Jordan made the start over Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Tracy McGrady, and Baron Davis. They all deserved to start over Michael this past season. Let's say Shaq stays on IR for most of the first half of the season he will probably still get enough votes in a normal year to make the starting lineup.

This year if Rudy includes Yao on his all-star ballot he will probably be the one to beat.
