Random dude who happens to be a doctor but hasn't examined Scola's knee said "sometimes" not "most likely".

No, we prefer to do all surgeries during the season, preferably at the beginning of the season, not during the offseason..............the doctors/trainers need a vacation too.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Btw, trading Scola at the deadline would have been hard because he was a BYC player.

Wasn't the issue that Scola was compensating for the other knee and hurt this one? I won't worry yet, Scola's contract has only really three years left and then the un-guaranteed year kicks in. Teams will look at that and realize the risk is only minimal for three years instead of the riskier 4-6 year deals.

Kobe had some loose bodies removed from his knee last summer. His trade value seems to be holding.

I believe cartilage can be damaged from blow to it as well....although the way scola shoots, with his knees pointing excessively inwards, probably doesnt help.

For those who say, "We should have traded him when we had the chance" remember Scoal was BYC this year so he could have only been traded for half of the value of his contract. Meaning , if he had been traded, the return you got most likely would not be equal in value. Also consider that Scola got hurt after the trade deadline, so there was no way to know he would have hurt his knee. Bottom line: Trading Scola this year probably would not have been a good deal.

I'm calling b.s. On this diagnosis. And not to bump Charlie Sheen's nonsense, but Scola ACTUALLY has Adonis DNA and tiger's blood running through his veins. He will self-heal over the summer by sheet act of will and come back even harder next year, and that's after carrying Argentina on his back in the offseason.

I'm glad someone else said it. This guy, to my knowledge, did not do the surgery.... This is all speculation because it makes sense that loose cartilage removal will thin things out and adds more grind to the knees if there isn't enough protection.

What is the deal with people wanting to trade players because they are good? Isn't the goal to try to have good players on the team to win games? I mean I understand trying to move some pieces for a superstar, but this is getting ridiculous. Just because someone is playing well doesn't mean they need to be traded for young talent or draft picks or whatever else you want.

messed up the verbage. My fault. Anyways, it was not a positive analysis from a sports doctor. Basically, this knee issue could just be the start to a string of knee issues that might plague him in the future... but thats the glass half empty of course.

I believe Scola will work his butt off to play for the Rockets throughout his contract, but the Rockets dont really have the best string of good luck when it comes to this type of thing. So this is a bit of a downer thread. Sorry.

Please don't start that. This has little to do, if at all, with the training staff.

After hearing it, he clearly says, "ONLY THE ROCKETS know how how bad it is." this guys is just throwing stuff out there without knowing more about the situation than general knowledge. He doesn't know the details of Scola's condition.

Would hate seeing Scola go as much as anyone on the team. He's the heart and soul of the team, but

    A. they must get better defensively and Scola is increasingly becoming a defensive liability.
    B. Fit- Scola would fit in much better on a team like Orlando, the Bucks, or even OKC. A team that has a defensive minded Center to anchor the defense, and needs a scorer in the post.
    C. Patrick Patterson. With another offseason and summer under his belt, he could be ready to become the full-time starter with Chuck coming in as his backup.(given the Rockets actually sign a center)

He just isnt a great fit for the new-look Rockets however much we love him. He is a great fit next to Yao Ming though so if all the chips were in this past season on Yao it made sense to re-sign Scola.

Since at the time Scola was the #1 player saught after by opposing teams in trades, he was worth the money since he had no injury issues at the time.

Eh, unlike Tracy(who had this type of surgery), Luis never really depended on athleticism of any kind. So i really don't see this in such a negative light, in terms of the impact it'll have on Luis's game. However I'm a little sad his trade value just fell through the floor. :(

Can we get the title edited? It's not really an update on Scola's condition.
