Great find, he sounds exactly like a Morey hire. I have a feeling that Morey is quite intrigued by euro innovations like 12 man rotations, and this is a coach that could implement that on an NBA level.
never been tried, the closest is the platoon memphis teams under hubie brown, 10 man rotations and they signficantly overachieved in the regular season but broke down in the playoffs. If the AB situation taught me anything it is that true pros don't get affected by money or contract, they will play well regardless, only mentally weak players have that sort of thing affect them.
Moneyball! Schumoney ball! Get a guy in here who can reach, teach, & motivate young players. That's what's needed period. All this "moneyball only" stuff is garbage. Basketball guys like Jackson, Poppovich, Riley, Larry Brown, & Doc Rivers are winning titles with great players (you gotta have those great players). But these guys reach, teach, & motivate those players to play winning basketball.
Good Lord, Messina has connections to San Antonio? San Antonio again? Maybe SA releases Budenholzer so Messina can join them?
instead of a "money ball" coach to crunch the numbers, we need something faster....why not stick a giant computer there instead?
Messina is intriguing, sounds like he is interested in long term team/player development. I'd rather him than Brown/Woodson.
