I saw Joe Rogan in Houston a few years ago, and I laughed my ass of the entire set. He called out this obnoxious chick halfway through the show for running her mouth and yapping incessantly (something comics find very disrespectful), and he ended up laying down a verbal beatdown on her in front of all of her friends. It was absolutely hilarious... as most comedians do, he thinks very quick on his feet, and he is actually a very intelligent, well spoken dude. Not to mention, he'll ask the crowd for ideas... and then just start dropping lines to random suggestions. He had the entire crowd rolling. Plus, he's tried numerous psychedelics (shrooms, acid, DMT) and smoke weed on the reg, so a lot of his material is centered on those experiences. He mentions that he has these crazy, life-altering epiphanies during his trips, and he delves in to the meaning of life/spirituality. Very interesting, he's the definition of an entertainer. I highly recommend checking him out if he drops by Improv, it's well worth it.
I liked him on News Radio but thought he was a douche on UFC and Fear Factor. But then I heard a stand-up CD from him and thought it was hilarious. So I like him again. Haha.
Aziz Ansari is for real. He's hilarious! And, as an Indian, I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo glad he doesn't just do racist Indian jokes all the time. Actually, he never does them.
I probably posted a response somewhere in here, but seriously, there are few comedians I've laughed at harder throughout an entire show than Kat Williams. Flat out hilarious.
George Carlin is #1 in my book, without a shadow of a doubt. There isn't a single person that I listen to that consistently makes me LMAO pretty much through every set, whether it's his early stuff or his later stuff. It's a shame he is gone now. 2nd, I'd have to put Lewis Black. His early stuff was pretty weak, but he's gotten a lot better over the years. I just love his overall style. Then I'd have to go with Bill Burr. I just love him because he says a lot of stuff that I think about every once in a while... like going up to a table with muffins on it and seeing how many I could flatten with my fist before somebody stopped me. I've actually thought that same exact thing long before I saw his act. 4th is Norm Macdonald. To be honest, though, his stand-up isn't the best part about him. He could be a professional talk-show guest because every single show I see him on, he completely destroys me. 5th would be Mitch Hedberg. Relatively short career, but very good nonetheless.
Bill Hicks (I know he's been mentioned, but I'm kinda shocked at how few times.) Richard Pryor George Carlin Chris Rock
You know, I was at my sisters a couple months ago and they watched one of his stand up shows and I must admit that it was funny as hell. Too bad he went crazy or something. Pryor is still tops on my list. though.
No Dylan Moran? <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/j95uDFgEpt0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ttRIz-0HWps" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
still can't find any full shows of him unlike with other comedians. can only see 3 minute highlights.
I listened to a lot more comedy years ago, so mine are pretty old: George Carlin Bill Cosby Bob Newhart Bob "Bobcat" Goldwaith Jerry Seinfeld Steven Wright Ray Romano Rita Rudner was not only funny, but also sorta hot. Kevin Pollack, of "A Few Good Men: fame, was a very funny standup.
