One thing that did occur to me last night, rebounding (defensive rebounding in particular) is going to be absolutely critical to the Rocks' playoff chances this year.

They have 5 legit shot-blockers (EG, Yao, Cato, KT, TMo), and if take into account the occasional block from Mo, Collier, Boki, even Rice, this is a team that should have no problem challenging shots.

But all that shot-blocking will be for not if the Rocks aren't more of a force on the glass.

Another thing I thought I should mention.

The Summit and I were able to talk to TMo for a little bit and we asked him about his ankle. He thinks he'll be ready to play in about two weeks. He seemed pretty grateful that we knew who he was, and after The Summit asked for his autograph TMo ended up spending the next 10 minutes signing autographs.

He has, however, added to his vocabulary. By Sunday, he was greeting the media with "Wassup?"

    :D

one funny thing that happened last night...

i was sitting behind the rocket's bench, maybe 5 or 6 rows up. there was this group of like 3 or 4 guys sitting in front of me, maybe 3 or 4 rows up from the court. So during the scrimmage there's a stoppage in play, can't remember why, that happens while the players are on that end of the court (white team's basket, i believe), and one of those dudes in the group stands up, gets the players attention, and yells out, matter of factly, "hey, we got next! we got next!" pointing to him and his buds, like we're at the ymca or something.

everyone in that area got a pretty good laugh. can't remember exactly how the players reacted though, since i was too busy laughing. :)

edit: i wonder if any of those dudes were cc.netters...

Hey that was me that me that yelled that to the players during the scrimmage. I was actually kinda disappointed that it didn't get much of a reaction cuz I wait till it was really quiet and I could get everyone's attention. Steve just looked at me with no expression and then looked away. It was totally worth it though.

It was while they were fixing the shot clock when I yelled it out.

I was just a few rows behind you Clint... that was pretty funny... You're right though they (rockets) didn't seem to respond to it...

Did you see the coach joking around with Colin Pine telling him to get off the players seats and move then Colin thought he was serious so he quickly moved but then the coach started laughing and told Colin to sit down

Man I heard that quote from all the way on the other side near the walk way. It got me laughing and I thought I would see some reaction as well.

B and The Summit, I saw you guys while I was waiting in line. I remember the red Francis jersery in particular.

Cool, what were you wearing? You should have said hi. I had a great time at the scrimmage, got a few autographs, and B caught the armband, cant beat that. If anybody wants to come say hi to B and I, I am in 223 row G and he is right behind me on row H. We were right by the Rockets entrance, I am wearing the red Francis jersey and B is wearing a blue one.

He IS the man! Great job, gradyr.

Now didn't Rice look great in those pics?? The difference between last season and this one is like night and day. I've got my fingers crossed. Can't wait to here anyone else's reports and/or pics.

Man, I would come say Hi to you but we are at the opposite end of the arena. We got 4 Cuttino packs in section 203, row J.

I'm still waiting on the cheerleader pics.

I'm not a very patient person.

I remember you guys from before the doors even opened, mostly b/c of the red Francis Jersey. If I knew you 2 guys were from CC.Net then I would have said "Hi". Don't know if you saw me but I am a bald Filipino guy and I was wearing a blue Dickies shirt. Whose arm band did he catch? Lucky bastards! :D
