Have you guys noticed that Lowry lets the ball roll down court to the half court line or sometimes past it to save time. Most players do this only in crunch times but ive noticed Lowry does it a lot during random times of the game. If you think about all of the time he is saving us it could really add up and could very well be helping us win.

Just a random thought me and my buddies were talking about last night and thought id bring it up on here.

That can also help the opposing team and give them more time at the end to shoot.

all that does is allow for more possesions. When you're losing, you want as many possessions to make up the deficit. when you do it early on, it doesn't really matter, you're just creating more time, for both your team and the other team.

most importantly it gives us more of the shot clock to use when in a half court set. i think its a fine thing to do, he saves the 2-3 seconds people often spending walking the ball up to half court and gives us that much more time to look for a good shot. i don't mind it at all.

No, it does not. It allows for more time for you to operate your own offense-- having closer to 24 seconds instead of 16 or 18 when you get into the offense helps.

You can very well roll the ball down the court, have a full 24 seconds when you pick it up midcourt, but still consume close to the entire shot clock before shooting.

    It's part of Adelman's system.

You'll have to be short to do this reliably. Otherwise, when you defender closes in, you won't be able to pick up the ball fast enough. ;)

thats what i was getting at.

has anyone else seen him let it roll almost to the three point line. it gets ridiculous if you watch him specifically do that. i think we counted like 4 consecutive possessions that he did it once. he has a great mentality for the team

What I like best is his quick restarts. He can try and catch the D sleeping.

clock usually continue after basket made unless after a stop play.
Lowry is doing the technique so there's more time on shot clock to set up plays.

Another thing he does is almost always going 2-for-1 at the end of quarters when possible by shooting the ball with about 30 seconds left on the clock (and making a good # of these shots).

Yes, it does save some time and allow for more possessions, because you're not going to use the entire shot clock every single time.

Ricky Rubio goes one step further, he lets the ball bounce off his chest - as rule says clock doesn't start if his hands don't touch the ball...

CP3 has been doing that since he came in the league. I do think it's a smart play.
