Most people don't get it. Hayes is like the 16th to 17th best starting center in the league. It's not Hayes that needs replacing. Unfortunately for all the fans of Scola (and I am one of them), it's Scola. He's the most one-dimensional player we have. To win a championship in this era, you need at least two, count 'em two, paint defenders that make opponents have to think three times about driving into the paint. Chuck is one of those defenders. There's not a quicker stronger paint defender in the NBA. He lacks length. We need a true big man to play alongside him (Yao), that can both score the ball efficiently, provide a low post offense post presence and provide shotblocking and length on the defensive end to go along with Hayes. If we want a championship team, we have to trade Scola and others for a big time post center and we need to acquire a Kirilenko type player at small forward. Lowry Martin One of Kirilenko-Anthony Randolph-Tayshaun Prince-Josh Childress One of Tyson Chandler, Marcus Camby, Przybilla, etc. Hayes Now, that is undoubtedly a top 5 defensive unit and also a unit that moves the ball and has scorers in it, high basketball iq guys that can play Adelman's system. And everybody can finish. Patterson first big off the bench. Dragic and Lee on the bench. That's a nice 8 man rotation. No, not a single all-star but a team that nobody wants to play. Nasty, nasty, nasty defensively and very smart and efficient offensively.
For the most part, this team has no shortage of effort so the only cause for their lack of defensive is a lack of defensive ability. This idea that any team can be a great defense is the biggest myth in basketball.
Chuck hayes is a scrub compared to scola. I was at the game where were he got the triple double, but people seriously overrate him. He plays good D against guys who shoot jumper like garnett, but when some team has size like the kings he gets destroyed. His O has improved, but it is still not that good. Scola is like one two guys on this team who can create a shot and score. If he gets a MLE contract he will be like the next malik rose. Good player, but overpaid.
Excellent post, Easy. An easy read, indeed. Sadly, it appears that no amount of logic, no matter the injuries, the team turnover, the lack of a "superstar" player, much less two, and what Adelman has done since being hired by the Rockets, and the work he's accomplished, given the circumstances, is nothing less than stunning... none of that appears to be worth a tinker's continental damn to Les Alexander. Less is bored. Less wants a change. For Less, less is more, and less is what we are going to get when Rick Adelman leaves the Rockets, thanks to Alexander. Thanks for nothing, Less. May you choke on your stupidity.
because that someone is revered as a "God " on here and can do no wrong. He also over stretches his hand when it comes to on the court dealings and coaching, something he has no credentials, capability, or capacity of doing. He is a good scout, who tries to make the best decision using shrewd tactics to a point it backfires. The recruiter is indepedent of the general directing the army.
and I don't mean to blast morey, just critique, i think a lot of it has to do with doing what your boss wants you to do. and to follow suite, i shall do the best copy img job i can.
Why does someone have to be blamed? Are we forgetting the entire team has been built around Yao? Its hard to believe he's played a whole 5 games the last 2 seasons. But i cant blame Morey for taking a shot with Yao...if his body would have cooperated we'd be able to mention Yao is the same sentence as Dream. He was that good. 36 point, 17 rebound type stat lines. That's dominant and we never saw his prime.
There are still quite a few people that think Rick doesn't know how to coach defense (although they're clearly a minority).
#1 in assets? We couldn't even beat NJ to land Williams. We have some underrated players in the league, but they are not the most talented role players in the league.
