The Rally Monkey proved much too powerful for these mere Giants. A great day for baseball!!

    1997 all over again.

How many teams win the WS and then can't make the playoffs the next year?

    Rally Dusty Baker's Brain....Felix Rodriguez....Game 6.....enough said.

I can't wait to hang some monkeys at Yankee Stadium in the late August series.

I have nothing to be envious of.

Once the Angels suck again that'll be enough to satisfy me.

Au contraire, the Angels took the Yankees out in a very simple manner, then went on to confirm their status as this season's best team.

The Yankees have horrible up the middle defense, aging pitching, questions in the outfield - and not all of these things are things that money can buy. They strike out too much, commit too many errors, and aren't exactly filled with up-and-coming talent beyond Weaver and Juan Rivera.

Unlike your analogy, it's more likely the Yankees find themselves on the outside looking in next season. Serious changes are coming, and whether or not they do actually happen, the Yankees will be fighting all next season just to hold off Boston.

Congrats to the Angels for winning the Series, a well deserved victory. Whether you like the Rally Monkey or not - and from chat, it's obvious you don't - the Angels simply outplayed and outmanaged the Giants, Twins, and Yankees. Scoscia is now the best manager in the AL by far, with the defection of Art Howe to the Mets. Torre et al don't come close.

You have nothing to be envious of other than the fact that your team got b**** slapped by the Angels in the first round and your pitching staff got lit up like a bonfire. Pfft!

They managed to get lucky every series. The Yankees are clearly better. they did beat the twins ill give them that. IF they had any confidence in their pitchers and actually pitched to bonds they lose this series easily. I will put a asterik in my record book obviously that means nothing. angels are a poor team. They willl come back to earth next year like the patriots this year

    Congrats to the Angels.

Their superior depth in the pitching staff told tremendously in this series, and Scoscia gets major points for willing to go with a 20yr old, who wasn't even in the majors till September.

Baker's bullpen use was odd, to say the least. I can't decide if he just didn't trust the other guys in there, or trusted Rodriguez too much - but when you see him lobbing 92mph meatballs over the plate(games 3 and 6) - why leave him in? Odd really.

This is a thread about *this* year's World Series and you want to talk to me about Miller Huggins and Babe Ruth? Is it that bad in Yankee land that you have to pull out the "I'm not envious because we won the Series in '27" argument? LOL That's great! :)

I don't see the similarity to the Marlins. The '97 Marlins were a team comprised of pricey veterans. The owner of that team got himself into financial trouble he couldn't handle over a long period of time. These Angels, unless they have a buttload of free agents this season who will all demand big contracts, will likely have most of their talent back from this world series. I see no reason why they couldn't be just as good next season.

 what do you get out making that comment? they won the friggin world series and you're challenging their strategy. they pitched to him pretty well considering the way he's playing.

i was going for the giants and they should have wrapped it up last night but props to the angels for winning.

Why would you pitch to Bonds if you don't have too? I wouldn't. Bonds is too good to pitch to if you don't have to. Do you have astericks next to the Rockets championships too?

Ok fine, lets bring up the 96+ run. That run contained more World Series victories than every team in their history but the Red Sox, the Reds, the Dodgers, the Athletics, the Cardinals, and the Giants.

    Try again.

I think NYK was referring to the fact that the Yankees have won 26 World Series and the Angels have won one.

I don't give a rats ass how many titles the Yankees have won since whenever the hell. The fact that you are such a bitterman to whine like a baby in a thread about these Angels who happened to torch your team despite having half its payroll is just pathetic. You "try again" next year buddy.

You know it just hit me that you're just trolling for this kind of fight because you clearly are that peeved. I think I'm done with that. Start spreading the news... Angels World Series Champs!

Plus I gotta give some props to Barry Bonds who I despise. He kicked some serious ass this postseason and it was cool to see him shed that choker label. I still want to see someone put one in his ear after he takes 15 seconds to get to first on a homer. :)

    Awww testy.

If you have to cry the tissues are to the left.

I don't care as much as other fans should. The majority of people here are Astros fans. Their rings are just about non existant.

The owner of the Marlins made around $15M that year, he broke up the team as punishment to the local Floridians that wouldn't approve a new stadium for him. Swell fellow.

As for the second point - winning the World Series, or even having a really succesful season, requires a number of players to play above their heads - whether or not they can continue this next season and reach the same heights, remains to be seen.

Were we talking about the Astros? The Astros have nothing to do with this conversation.
