I don't really want them to do it at halftime but who I'm I to say when they should do it. As long as it's getting retire. Hakeem "the dream" Olajuwon lives on.

I may be going all out on this, but I would like them to have a retirement ceramony like Jordan had his when he first retired, u know back in '93. They had the ceramony the night before the season started where they had people talk about him, show montage footage etc... That would be great. :D

We're still developing the plans, but right now the intention is to have the jersey ceremony at halftime.

We're also going to plan for a big ovation when he enters the arena before the game ... I'm sure every loyal Rockets fan will be happy to oblige.

    That'll be a first : a coach that demands the ball. :D

    "You must establish the coach!"

I think it would of been fitting if they had a night at Compaq Center just for Hakeem not at a game. It would of been cool see the them fill up the compaq center just for Hakeem and had an hour dedicated just to the Dream. I bet they would of filled up the laptop.

LOL, I remember that post too.

But seriously, Hakeem has a silent yet competitive demeanour. He also has 2 championships and knows that there MUST be either a post presence or Micheal Jordan to win titles. Knows the value of veteran leadership, has played with so many MANY players. Has everyone's respect, including the BEST player in the league. He also played for a coach that everyone in the league wants to play for.

He was made for head coaching. But assistant coaching would definitely be a disaster.

Since I live in Indiana and I am poor, I can't be there for the game. This is about the best I can do. Thank you Hakeem. (Standing O, Standing O, Standing O)

So, does anyone know what jersey style/color will be hung in the rafters?

Seriously folks, I think it would be awesome if the Rocks pulled a retro Red/Gold night in honor of the Dream and all the players wore the old unis!

Yes, terrific idea! Red & Gold in honor of the man who led us to championships in those colors. That game would be a keeper on my VHS shelf.

Can you imagine what a game-worn red/gold Yao Ming jersey would go for?

Funny you mention that ;), because we are going to do a red/gold retro night. We're still nailing down details (that's why it's not on the promotional nights section on rockets.com yet), but right now it looks like April 6 vs. Orlando.

And, yes, we chose Orlando for a reason.

None of the current Rockets ever wore the red and gold ... this will be your chance to see them in it.

Must have been a tough decision whether to do it against NY or Orlando. :D

That's great Tim, thanks for the info. Only downside is it's going to be awfully painful to go back to the pajamas afterward, but even temporary relief is appreciated. No offense intended.

Hey Tim, I don't suppose you could arrange to have the Rockets wear red and gold uniforms on the 29th of November, at Seattle, could you? :D
