not to rain in on his parade...but Chase deserves credit as well! both played awesome. Chase - 35 pts Goran - triple duble'
I think either of Dragic and Lowry complement the Houston lineup pretty well considering KMart at SG whos almost a pure scorer.
Last 3 games Dragic holds opposing PG’s to: Clippers: Mo Williams 1/6, Randy Foye 3/13 Mavs: Jason Kidd 1/9, Jose Barea 2/5 Wolves: Luke Ridnour 3/11, Wayne Ellington 0/2 Sample size small? Yes. But in opportunities he’s given he’s shown he can be very good on D even tired playing many minutes.
His ceilling is Beno Uldrih Please, stop being delusional. And no, Buddinger will also not be Dirk Nowitzky, he better try and learn how to be a bigger Brent Barry.
That's such a redicoulous comment. Don't get me wrong, I think that right now Beno is probably a better player than Goran. He's a savvy veteran guard that moves the ball well, shoots with great efficiency, especialy from midrange, and has a good overall understanding of the game. His problems are lack of athleticism and frustating lack of speed, that makes him a constant liability on defense and and limits his production on the offensive side. While Goran is not as good of a shooter or a decision maker yet, his physical abilities surpass Beno in every category - he's good athlete with great leaping ability and considerable speed, which opens up a wide variety of offensive options and enables him to stick to his man on defense. Shooting and decision making will come in time, on the other hand nobody can teach you speed and athlethicisem, which puts Gorans cielling much higher in comparison to Udrih. And that different set of abilities shows considerably in their games. For example: Udrihs favorite offensive move is a midrange jumper, which he gets using a screen, that results in a high percentage shot or a pump fake and a foul. Goran on the other hand likes to cut to the basket and either finishes himself or, if he draws a double team in the process, passes to the opened teammate. The first one needs a screen to compensate for his overall lack of speed and the second one uses his speed to create an offensive opportunity.
Well, that's only because he hasn't been on the team the last couple of years. The problem last year was that he wanted to start, wanted to take more responsibility, but the coach had some problems with that. He went with Sani Becirovic, an inferior player, who happenes to be the coaches son. Go figure. The problem in Slovenian basketball was never quality, but internal politics. Just last year our best player, Erazem Lorbek, canceled his participation because what later turned out to be his father not getting an important function in the Slovenian basketball association. Beno was fed up with things like that and went away. And like I said above, Dragic was never the one to replace him, he actually played most of his minutes at the 2 spot.
Beno Uldrich? Really? Like the poster after you said, The Dragon has superior foot speed and physical tools. Other than that, style are very similar though and Beno is a much more experienced player. But potential? The Dragon has a much higher ceiling that that.......*facepalm*
He's already a better defender and rebounder than Udrih at this early stage in his career. He's basically more advanced than Lowry was last season because he actually CAN shoot the ball. The only weakness is midrange/FT shooting and turnovers but those can easily be improved.
It did actually look like that when he was in San Antonio, but he changed much in the last two seasons. He became a vital part of the young Kings team, an important veteran presence in practice and on the court - players were jokingly calling him "coach Beno". He was an important part of not exactly pass-first backcourt with Tyreke Evans at the point and kept the ball moving when that became a problem and the offence stagnated. He's probably one of the best midrange shooters in the league and although he's not a guard that would go to the basket often, he finishes there with good efficiency, mainly because he knows how to use his body to shield the ball. The result is that he finished the season with the overall fg% of .500 despite of subpar shooting from the longrange. He's not your ideal starter, because of his physical limitations mentioned previously, but could be a terrific 6th man of the bench for a playoff team.
Go figure guys, all of you should be NBA scouters then. I say me and the rational posters will sweep you next year in some matters discussed here. 1) Yao won't be back, or if he is, he won't be a force. 2) Patterson will be a nice backup, and that's it. 3) Goran Dragic will not be starting material for anyone in the league unless you are a clutchfans.net poster. 4) Chase Buddinger will not be anything else than a spot up shooter. (Bonus: Brooks was not the Next Tony parker) I am predicting a 4-0 for the "Down to Earth" guys, against the "Pretty Delusional". I don't think the Rox doesn't have a good chance one of them ends up being a better than average player, but as said before, it's the NBA, you don't get up one day and realise that you have much more potential and just explode it. Maybe some of you are misleaded by the management, but the only real way to construct a championship team, is to have at least 2 legit all-stars, or one and 2 borderline all-stars, and a team full of SOLID bench player. And by solid bench players i don't mean great, i mean players that know their roles and that each other know who is cappable one thing, and not the other, and they play to their strengths. Right now, most people want Dragic, Patterson, Buddinger to do more than what they should be doing.
even though you are going to get hate for being grammatically incorrect and misspelling, don't pay much attention to it. As blunt and pessimistic as it was, it contains substance.
I actually agree with you on most of the points and Dragic probably wont be a starter for a team in this league next year, but that will, I think, change in the future. In any case his ceiling is higher than Beno Udrih - and that's where this argument started.
Dragic starts for the Slovenian national team. At least have a point that you're making if you're going to be dense.
