Do you have a recipe for us that like to grill (gas or charcoal, wood) but are fajita challenged? I am down to just using Allegro, and that just doesn't do it for me.
Fajitas are easy to prepare and grill. Simply purchase pre-marinated fajitas from your local Mexican meat market, and grill over hot coals until done.
I've never had quail, but I always see it on the menu. One,is it good? Two, Is it a common staple in the mexican kitchen?
It's been a while since I was at El tiempo, and I agree that it can be somewhat more bland than the "normal" fajitas with too much lime and salt (still, what's not to like about that?), but those "tenderloin" fajitas are among my favorites. Butter, that chimichurri(sp?) oily sauce? Incredibly good. Not very traditional fajitas by my experience, but if you get the upgrade it's awesome in a completely different way than others. A bit steep though, and I haven't been in about a year or so. I second the votes for Little Pappasito's and LupeT (though lupe is the worst culprit of overdoing the salt and lime flavor. Still, also very good)
They are beyond amazing, just over priced for friggin' fajitas, but EVERYTHING is over priced on Washington. I had them this past Tuesday and left a verah happy camper. I really could not care less what anyone says, El Tiempo is the bomb. The one on Washington is not bland whatsoever, plus they're not all limed up. The lime comes on the cooker to your table so you can season as you please.
I'm a big fan of Pappas and Pappadeaux but not Pappasitos. HOWEVER, the beef fajitas at Pappasitos are to die for. One of my favorite things to get in a restaurant. I wrap a chunk of fajitas with sour cream in a tortilla, dip it into queso and forget about everything else in the world for a while.
pappasitos chicken fajitas are unrivaled. It's not even close. Tell me a place that has better chicken fajitas ,and I will laugh at you for living a lie. the beef fajitas are good at many places...
I have no idea if they are a common staple, but they are delicious They are a little more difficult to eat because they give t to you with the bones and everything, but they are AMAZING I usually get either the chicken/quail fajita combo or the chicken/shrimp with scallops and melted cheese on top, both are unmatched
Pappasitos is pretty tasty... After that, I'd say Ninfa's, but I'm old school... When I'm grilling myself, I buy the meat at La Michoacana...mmm...
speaking of quail fajitas, pappasitos have them too and prefer eating them than the beef fajitas.. 3 for $15 worth a try
