    *ROCKETS APPRECIATION THREAD*

Faced with adversity, losing some key players, being without its star player, the Rockets delighted us with thrills, spills, nail-biters, exciting and great games, and a bunch of other feelings that could only come with the consolation that this was our 5th consecutive WINNING season.

The professionalism of all the players showed when they didn't let the already lost playoff berth be a distraction.

    Thank you, ROCKETS.

A very easy bunch to root for. They definitely made it fun down the stretch.

Early on I thought this season was going to be a big disappointment but they proved me wrong.

Really enjoyed how they played after the Allstar break, hope they can carry that over to next season, whenever that is....

After watching how gritty and tough this team could be, I feel bad about the Rockets missing the playoffs but I feel bad for the players themselves as well - with the work they put in and the massive overachieving in a stacked conference, they acquitted themselves admirably.

Can't fault the coaches and the players for trying their best to win games. Props to the RA and staff and all players for a well fought season.

It's the management and the organization's fault that we are now stuck in mediocrity. How many times have we just barely missed the playoffs in the last five years again?

I am getting tired of always having to say next year. I am looking forward to the day we can say this year.

The one thing you've gotta love about these Rockets teams is the heart and hustle they show. Guys like Scola, Lowry, Hayes, Lee, Martin, and Patterson exemplify what this team's persona is all about, and I can't wait to see what we can do in the off-season (if there is one). One superstar, and the sky is the limit for this team.

Damn it, didn't make it ibtmr (ibt mediocrity reference).

The team and the coach played the cards they had available to them very well this year. It's my opinion that management did as well, but instant gratification seekers are hard to please. Some cities would kill to have NBA teams with five straight winning seasons regardless of playoff success.

Congrats on a year with a lot of heart, gentlemen. Here's to a 2011-2012 campaign with heart AND a playoff run.

very fun without a doubt, especially the weeks after the all-star break. Hopefully these guys and the Rockets in general have a great chance next season.

The way we were playing towards the end, we would have been a play off team. To bad too many side show drama messed us up.

We are 1 solid center away from a guarenteed play off spot....

It's not truly a winning season unless you're in the playoffs.

Agree with your first paragraph, but the answer to your question is "Only in this current season and in 2009-2010."

Please allow me to disagree with you, sir, but I do believe it is not "mediocrity" if W's are more than L's. Slightly missing the playoffs for two consecutive seasons while maintaining a higher-than-.500 winning percentage isn't mediocre in my book.
 Congratulations, sir, you've won the "Raining-On-The-Parade" award in this thread, and allowed me to continue congratulating in this thread to put it back on track.

I wouldn't consider this mediocre, competing for a spot isn't mediocre. Being like Golden State however, where they're not competing for a playoff spot nor vigoriously tanking is the worst postition.

I wear my Rockets shirt today with pride.

as a Rockets fan, these things I appreciate and accept

5 consecutive years of winning basketball

4 years of winning basketball under Rick Adelman.

2 years of winning basketball without Yao Ming or (essentially) Tracy McGrady

improving on last season's performance and number of games won

being at the the bottom of the winningest division in basketball: the only division in which every team is a winner.

    this I cannot accept:

consistently being "the best team not to make the playoffs" while the Knicks, 76ers, and pathetic Pacers make the playoffs with better seedings and worse records, by virtue of playing in the Eastern Conference.

should this be addressed by the league or is just sour grapes for Rockets fans?

it's not showing appreciation to the team when you post something obvious like this.
