you arent talking about this are you.. when the game was over?

Which also happens to be my favorite dunk by him.

Young teams have to keep the crowds in the game, they arent going to play the Spurs type of ball..

The Oklahoma City Thunder are a young team but they do not need to make plays in a Harlem Globetrotter style to fill seats. However, it is a young franchise so people will show up regardless simply because they have never had the chance to experience an NBA game. But then again, your team totally blows ass so you may as well do it.

What would be a near triple double, in your opinion? 2 more rebs and 3 more assists is pretty close, I would think.

Best dunk on the Mavs was still T-Mac dunking on Shawn Bradley:

Well, that stat line is worse than Lebron James' average (when you consider he averages 26 points).

I usually only hear people talk about near triple doubles when the stat line is just as good or better than a triple double, something like 30-9-9 or 25-9-12 or 25-15-8. It's not like Dirk was on the cusp of getting a triple double if he played another couple possessions. There are starters in this league that only average about 2 and 3 on assists and rebounds.

He was on the cusp, as I believe are many volume scorers that only get 5 or 6 assists on nights where they get 10 rebs and their usual 20-30 pts, especially those that draw double teams consistently.

Dirk had 20 points on 10/16 FGs with no free throws in that game (surprised me when I saw that, too...maybe he's saving some aggression for the playoffs). Also, he played the equivalent of 3 full quarters and 2 minutes. If he decided to take 6 less shots and instead pump faked and dished to an open man on those plays, it's likely he would have gotten 2-3 more assists from that. And a couple of rebounds? you can get that in one possession sometimes. With that he'd easily have something like 10/10/9. You'd surely agree that's on the cusp. But is it as impressive as 20/8/7? Not at all.

Gilbert Arenas 5 years ago on the Wiz averaged 26/5/4. He could have been on the cusp of many more triple doubles then he was that season if he wasn't looking to score most of the time. But those 35/8/5 games are more impressive than trying to play out of his comfort zone and not specialize in his skill. Combo guards/SFs have a better chance to get a triple double, and that's why I think people put the raw stat "triple double" on an unworthy pedestel.

Jason Kidd has tons because of his style of play. He has more triple doubles than Jordon, Drexler, and Barkley combined. I've just seen too many 10-10-10ish triple doubles often in losing efforts that just aren't that impressive and aren't always indicative of stellar play. Kidd is a very good PG that can score 10 a game that happens to be a good rebounder. I know nobody argued that more triple doubles=better player, but I just tire of the focus on double-doubles and triple-doubles as if 10 is some important number.

I'll later write a long post that no one will read about my hatred for the number 10. Thanks.

funny how the raptors...and the rest of the NBA are getting the last laugh now that Green isn't even in the NBA and is a waste of talent.

ACTUALLY... including standing reach and max vertical... McGee can reach 3 inches higher on his max vert than deandre.. 1 inch of it is arm length.. but deandre was faster in the agility test than McGee... His vert is 2 inches shorter but he is quicker... athletically its VERY close... 1 inch shorter arms..
