I would you give him 3 years for essentially a one year extension??? Using your logic, just give both 1 extra year.

Its not Morey's fault that players get injured. But obviously players not knowing when they would be in and their exact role on this team caused us to lose at least 8-9 games this season. Adelman as good of a coach he is didn't/couldn't deliver the way he usually does. We got rid of one "malcontent" for a terminal cancer of a player in Terrance Williams following him on twitter has shown me how much of an idiot/knit-wit/pea-brained/poser he is. I love the Rockets i enjoyed the season just I'm disappointed that we're not in the playoffs.

-DM inherited Yao and Tracy's contracts that ate up 2/3 of the available money to field a team.
-Only a psychic could have known that the duo's 2007 trade value (already 50 cents on the dollar) was the best it would ever get
-Any GM would have been ripped apart for making a 50 cents on the dollar trade to unload the faces of the franchise before it was clear they were done
-With 2/3 of the cap eaten up over the next 4 years by two guys worthless for practical purposes, no one could have possibly fielded a legitimate contender

And I know you're not saying he sucks. I agree that mediocrity shouldn't be tolerated. But with the hand fate dealt us from '06-'10, now is honestly the first chance the team has to move away from mediocrity without relying on Yao and McGrady to do it. Morey had little choice but to ride those two as long as it was possible, and now we see what he does without the $40 million in sunk costs.

Adelman is a GREAT coach. Though I would fire him, I'd still take care of him and treat him with the respect that a coach of his caliber deserves.

I honestly don't understand how this could confuse you unless you're being purposely obtuse.

Let me spell out for you what he's had to work with:
1.) 40 Million dollars constantly Tied up to injury.
2.) Zero cap space because of it.
    3.) Three 1st Round Picks (25th, 26th, 14th)
    4.) Six 2nd Round Picks
    5.) The Greek T-Mac
    6.) Rafer Alston
7.) Un-desirable city for free agents

He's turned that into a team that is better than half the others in the league, despite every single one of those teams having "more to work with."

You truly believe he should have turned the above into a championship contender? That's just not being rational.

You're not special...and neither was the person who's thread you referenced. There's a lot of other people out there who aren't happy with this, but we're not going to jump of a bridge because of it. I don't think any fan can say the Rockets aren't trying to get better and get past being mediocre. What they did didn't work and now they have to dig themselves out of it. Rarely will you go from being bad to being good without passing mediocrity. Some just pass it faster than others.

the brad miller signing was terrible. the t-will trade makes no sense at all. the battier trade does not look too promising thus far. and we held onto brooks way too long while his value kept plummeting week after week. i'm a big morey fan, but this year has not helped his resume.

    1) That is exactly why Morey needs to go. He has been GM for 4 years and the team can not even make playoff in the last 2 years. Injury did not start since last year or this year, there is a long history of it. Was the success in Morey's tenure in the first 2 years because the base and foundation that CD created was still there? I do not know.

    2) Les spend a lot of cash to improve picks or in trades, what do we have now? lottery team year by year? 5mil/year with 3 year contract for Brad Miller?

Individually, many players have beautiful stats. As a whole, this is a mediocre team, I do not expect this would be a playoff team next season if Morey will still be GM.

No one thinks this is a championship team except Morey, perhaps, but come on, can we still make playoff as we did?

The draft lottery begs to differ.

You're right this was one of the greatest years in Rocket history. The way we lost key games that we should have won all season long by choking game after game resulting in our not making the playoffs was awesome and made me proud to be a fan.

Okay...how about not desirable then when compared to New York, Miami, LA.

Successfully transforming an aging team featuring Rafer and Mike James into an up and coming team is already an accomplishment in itself...not to mention injuries to our key stars. I agree that injuries will always be a problem...it happens all the time, but most teams can't win without a star. New Orleans didn't make it to the playoffs without Paul, heck, look at Cleveland now without Lebron. Look at LA when Shaq got traded. They went through seasons where they were absolutely garbage.

Point is, we need a star player and Morey is obviously trying to acquire one. He's having trouble, but instead of building a team that sucks for decades to come, he's building one that's competitive and entertaining until he lands that big star.

Les spent money to be competitive and we got some nice pieces out of it. We drafted our starting SF in the second round and the verdicts still out there for Lull. Yes, we missed on JT, but 1 out of 2 is still pretty good in the second round. The Brad Miller signing was all Adelman...Morey definitely overpaid for him, but GMs make mistakes too.

Right now we're a shockblocker away from making playoffs and a star away from contention. Not bad for a rebuilding team.

im absolutely shocked that people on the board dont understand how great a year this was given the circumstances and the talent available. hayes played great, lowry is much improved, martin is a big time scorer etc. yes, we have areas that need vast improvement, but what would firing adelman and morey do to help fix the problems. they are the reasons we are as good as we are..they are terrific. adelman will be in the hall of fame and if morey continues the way he is going, he will be there some day too.

panic is never the answer. we accomplished more with less this year than maybe ever before. that to me is why this is one of the great years in rocket history.

And the bitter taste of the 14th pick in the draft is definitely the goal we want to achieve season after season. You don't get an A for effort in the NBA.
