    I can't imagine the Astros being historically bad, but maybe that's just me looking through brick red colored glasses.

    It really doesn't help that the Astros division is one of the tougher ones now. Before, even a mediocre team could flourish in the central because you got to play the Pirates, Brewers, and Reds a bunch. Now, the Brewers and Reds are decent and very good, respectively. The Pirates are still bad, but now they look at the Astros for their "easy" wins.
