Rockets shock the world and steal the #1 draft pick, snatch up K. Walker, give him some highlight reels off the bench and trade him to Orlando for D. Howard. That, or make the playoffs. Here's to hope anyway.
Exactly, the pro tankers don't understand that losing games is part of the game. That you can enjoy more watching games and players giving 110% and still not making the playoffs....than letting the team tank in the hope of getting a high pick, and the more unlikely scenario that such high pick will turn a superstar in several years.
This season sucked. Hopefully, Les will order Morey to go into full rebuild mode, because the "let's tread water until a superstar falls in our lap" strategy has been a total effing disaster.
I enjoyed this season as well. There were lots of good things that came out of it. PPat off to a great start. Lowry and Chuck's improved play and emergence as the leaders of this team. An injury-free season for KMart. His 4th quarter play as the closer (by getting to the line) helped seal some much needed victories. CBud coming out of his slump since being handed the starting role. CLee finally getting acclimated to the system and being the lock-down defender we all hoped he could be. Adelman moving up the all-time coaching wins list. Spanking the Celtics and the OT win against the Spurs, memorable games during the season. True Rockets fans will see the silver lining. Whether it's draft picks, free agency, increased trade value, or moral victories, I'll be sure to watch the Rockets again once pre-season rolls around (barring lockout). Thank you, Rox. Thank you, Clutch. We'll get 'em next year.
I enjoyed the season because we do have some scrappy players and seeing brooks leave along with hayes and lowry come on has been nice. Bud gotten better. Those are positives I am happy about. We started out slow and we seemed to lose games that we should have won... and then like last nights game we lose to the kings. We don't seem like a lottery team but we don't seem like a good team either. Feels close but not quite there still.
You need more patience if you truly want to rebuild. I feel like this "strategy" you speak of has been going on for barely a year.
to get so many wins with this kind of team is so delightful however I am getting sick of overachieving and somewhat underachieving due to injuries by Rockets but I am proud nonetheless because this team plays hard
Enjoyed it, but only because I got to watch Rockets basketball. Truth is, nothing new about this one: Got some players from trade, developed some young guns (who, like it or not, will probably not stay as Rockets for very long)..missed another playoffs, ended up with another low first round draft pick. Same old, same old. Don't like to make dead horse pulp, but GET A DAMN SUPERSTAR (or at least another star beside Martin). And o ya, resign Yao for as cheap as possible.
I'm disappointed but there was plenty of positives and at least this team kept it interesting rather than just completely collapsing. Looking forward to see what happens next season. GO ROCKETS!
and another thing ...I like our team. I really like our players and I like our chemistry. Not only are they fun to watch, the way they play, but they are class acts. Short of TWill it's a freaking church choir. We also have grit. We play very very tough and we are scrappy. We have a very strong work ethic as a team. And most of our players have a very good BBIQ. Even if we didn't do another thing this year, we'd be competitive for the next few just because of the quality of players on our roster. Clearly we are not contenders, but we are certainly an above average team. When you consider that we never officially went though a rebuilding period, and that we are probably only a couple of pieces away, i think we have a lot to be proud of, and a lot to look forward to.
This last run was fun and all, but to put it in GARM vocabulary, it was fools' gold. We are missing the playoffs for the SECOND straight year. The sad part is that, right now, the expectations for next season look worst than the expectations we had for this year, as it were, we were coming in with a franchise player (Yao) and a crop of young players in development (Kudos to Kyle and Pat, to AB, Bud, Hill; the acquisitions of Williams and Thabeet -arguably 09' busts-). Making the playoffs this year, even without Yao, was a given among most of us. Last year's team, was a legitimate Cinderella story (without Yao and Mcgrady) this year's is a Story of Failure. I'm sold on Morey, Adelman and most of the guys in the roster but from now on I'm going to consider this a disappointing franchise until we get better results.
I am glad to see everyone giving alot of credit to Kyle Lowry and Chuck Hayes...but I'm shocked to say the least that people aren't giving due credit to Kevin Martin. The guy has played 76 games this season so far and is averaging almost 24 ppg. Kmart proved his worth in my opinion. I love his attitude, and he is a perfect fit on this team, especially with Rick as the coach.
First part of the season was close to torture, post All Star they really hit their stride. A lot of quality things to look forward to next year if the 2nd half play is any indication.
This is pretty much the way I feel also. The offense was fun to watch, but with zero defense this is pretty much how your season ends.
this was a unique season. our chemistry gelled kind of late when we had our run. i think yao's and AB's injuries/issues really stalled our progress earlier on in the season. i think morey should build the team like the nuggets are right now, with the lack of a true star.
Post All Star break the team has been fun to watch. They have played hard and well. I like the young talent, but we need SIZE in the worst way. Moneyball may have failed in some ways, but overall the team has actually progressed. Really disappointing how the Kings looked like the superior team last night, but I think there are reasons to be hopeful. The Yao saga bothers me because we are almost certain of a repeat. I wish Yao would retire and end this frustrating episode in Rockets history. Otherwise, I feel relatively positive.
