I realize this website skews toward young men with an interest in sports, which sometimes (not always) translates to an interest in fitness (and apparently Whataburger). Still it seems a little ridiculous how obsessed this board is collectively with fat. As far as this latest article goes my experience has been this. I am engaged and have never been married, I am 40, I have had 20 lifetime sex partners, many of them were also (GASP) overweight. I have had relationships lasting from 2 hours to 4 years and everywhere in between. When I am in a relationship I am capable of sex 7 nights a week, several times a night. I'd prefer 5 times a week, but that is more of a function of being 40 than being fat. I am sure the rock hard, eating well, working out 6 times a week average member of this board with their supermodel or better looking girlfriends have a much higher quality of orgasm with their significant others than poor ol' fat me, and my poor ol' fat fiancee. After all it is UNTHINKABLE that someone who doesn't meet the societal ideal of perfection NOT hate everything about themselves and their lives. If it makes you feel happier and healthier then do it with my best wishes for success and happiness. If you like being thin so you can point a finger and spill your negativity on me and mine, go pump yourselves....Feel the burn.
Whoa, things just got real. I make a motion to focus on this post instead. I'm loving the detail oriented approach here.
Major Mal is totally right tho This board is overly obsessed with other people's fitness levels. What I truely have a problem with is the definitions of "ideal". For my height and bone structure, the "ideal" weight for me is 195. Are you frikking kidding me? I was 195-200 for a time when I was younger, folks thought I looked emaciated, I look truely perfectly fit at 210. Now, fast forward a few (ahem, shut up moe) years, and Im around 240...at 6'2"...do those measurements say "obese" to you? Well, thats what I am according to those "ideal" height/weight charts. and ftr....sex has NEVER been a problem, even when I was my biggest at around 260. Enjoy those nice fit hardbodies while you got em boys......unless you are Jack Lalane, it wont last past middle age.
LaGarrette Blount (RB for the Tampa Bay Bucs) has a BMI of 33.5, making him obese. Here he is hurdling Lawyer Milloy. The BMI is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.
NONSENSEBURGERS! BMI IS AS ACCURATE AS PHRENOLOGY! MAYBE NOT ON bARACK hussein oBAMA"S AMERICA! PALIN 2012! WE WENT FISHING AND CAUGHT HALF A DOZEN TROUTE GOOD EATING TONIGHT GOD BLESS KISS ALL LITTLE ONES LOVE GRANDPA
America is a society where being obese is almost accepted. Hell most of those who are overweight don't think they actually are overweight. Personally I think that eating healthy and working out is not a hard thing to do especially when looking at how much it benefits you. Taking care of your body should be one of the top priorities in everyone's life. I was 5'8 and weighed near 180 just about 6 months ago. Now i'm down to 150 and have a much better healthy lifestyle.
Are you kidding? 150 for his height is just about right. He should be at around 140-145 for optimal weight. Any heavier it limits one's mobility and agility.
i would assume that fat people would have bad sex lives mainly because of steric hinderance. I mean how can the apparatus even fit in the recepticle.
I can definitely defend myself at that weight. I've played both wrestling and waterpolo/swimming throughout the majority of my life and had no problems.
Same for me, although I actually gained weight to get up around 155. I've been working out a lot more recently.
im 5'10" 220. Im considered overweight, but i can bench 315 lbs 4 times. BMI has given me a bad wrap for many years.
I feel for truly obese people that really can't do much about it without eating only lettuce and grilled chicken, but I also don't judge overweight people that choose to be that way even though they could easily workout and eat a little better and be thinner. If that's what makes them happy and they want to eat without a conscience and hate working out, there's nothing wrong with that (so long as they understand the health problems that might come along later). Life is short, live it like you want to. As for me, I like to watch what I eat for the most part and workout at least twice a week unless I'm really busy. I'm not hardcore about it, but I feel much better when I workout and I plan on continuing until my body won't let me anymore (I'm 26, 5'10 about 165 lbs). I'd like to think I'll be physically active (playing sports and working out, because I like doing so) into my 50's, rather than making routine doctor visits and having to rely on medication for blood pressure, etc like so many "overweight" people over 40 that had the genes and the body frame to do something about it for their whole life, but just ignored it and now can't be active because their body won't let them. Again, this isn't intended for genetically obese people, just those that don't care much for their health. I'll also agree that being "medically overweight" means nothing. Everyone has different body types and genes. I think a 5'10 180 or 185 guy could be just as healthy as 5'10 160 or whatever is recommended.
Ha! I was joking about the defending himself remark so you didn't have to do it for him. And to post a picture of an elite athlete to back up your point? For real? I'll begin assuming that every 150lb grown man has the physique of Mayweather the day that I begin calling Muhammad Ali's 6'2" 220lbs obese.
I'm sure all of us knew this but didn't think about it much. I'll be the first admit that I don't have the perfect physique. I mean, who here does? You're always trying to better yourself in any way possible. I'm at 6'1 and 185 right now and could stand to lose 5-10 pounds. However, being obese is a choice. The most classic excuse is 'I have a low metabolism.' Yeah? That's cause you aren't doing any physical activity and have a mediocre/bad diet. Eat small regular meals every day and try to do at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week. Building muscle means you're burning more fat during the day so try to lift some weights when you're working out. There are a small percentage of people though who do all this and still don't get results.. those are the people which I sympathise for. Apparantely Australia is the fattest nation in the world now. I tried taking notice today but I honestly did not find that many overweight individuals. Where are they all?
