I never blamed the training staff because They can stop players from getting Serious injuries. They can help players recover faster but that's it.
Are you talking about the Rocket's team physician? Dr. Tom Clanton moved to Denver, 2 years ago. His last "accomplishment" was Yao Ming's foot surgery. He is no longer over the team physician for the Rockets. He hasn't done any new surgeries, since Yao Ming's foot surgery. Surprise surprise, no Rockets have had season ending surgery since Clanton left. Dr. Clanton Leaving Houston Sports Teams Haters Rejoice: Dr. Tom Clanton won't return
Clanton is the same guy that operated on Steve Francis(knee surgery), Bob Sura(knee surgery), Dion Glover(knee surgery), Battier(ankle), Rafer(ankle), Mutombo(knee surgery), and T-Mac(knee surgery). Battier and Alston were the lucky ones. Clanton seems to be good with ankles.
The Rockets did add somebody new to the training staff. Keith Jones and Daryl both found fault with the operation, that's why they hired an outside guy, Darryl Eto. After Daryl and Keith made a review, Daryl hired another coach whose techniques were ahead of the Rockets in their medical and strength operations. He was some big time coach at Athlete's Performance Institute. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletes'_Performance_Institute http://www.athletesperformance.com/ http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6632311.html
Yeah I was talking about this guy. He was regarded as one of the best doctors in the country IIRC, however the Rockets had a lot of misdiagnoses while he was at helm, including Yao Ming not knowing he had a foot fracture and the doctors thinking there was nothing wrong with Tmac when he complained about pain in his leg.
My point was that the fans that were complaining about everything and it's time to give them a reality check. I understand Clanton left and knew the rockets had a new guy training them (since last year). Fans complained prior to that and they complained after. We had injuries before and after. Yao got injured before and after. Tracy got injured before and wasn't really here much after. Sometimes it's not the staff, but rather bad luck and/or frail players.
this is the point of the thread. the rockets had bad luck and frail players. the fans blamed the trainers and doctors. if they are gonna blame the trainers for every injury then where is the praise for them when the players are healthy?
Fans don't really praise them because the very nature of their job is that you don't notice it if they're doing well. Do you send a thank you note to your electricity company for providing you with electricity everyday? How about your water company for making sure water's flowing in the tap whenever you turn it on? Same thing here. Anyway judging from Mr. Clanton's handiwork rather than saying the staff are doing a good job now, the staff were doing a terrible job before and they're doing standard work now.
yes, and so were yao's. only problem is because of yao's size, a freak injury becomes a chronic nuisance.
