I was just listenin to the game, i live in florida and cnt watch it, and i must have heard them say block by Griffin atleast 5 times. for those who watched the game, did Griffin alter a lot of shots? Im gettin a lil giddy Ming+Griffin= Twin Towers???? Lets all hope so
I know blocks can't do it alone, but I hope Eddie's defense translates to wins. Man I hope, it translates.
I'm in Florida as well so I have to call my brother to get the Rox reports and every game it seems like Griff is getting more and more blocks. As soon as he gets the offensive game to a consistent level, EG is gonna be a monster in this league.
That's correct, and just think, give Ming a little more time, and he'll be right there behind Griffin! Player-Games Played-Total Blocks-BPG 1. Eddie Griffin ( Houston Rockets) 7 27 3.86 2. Samuel Dalembert ( Philadelphia 76ers) 4 11 2.75 3. Theo Ratliff ( Atlanta Hawks) 6 16 2.67 4. Dikembe Mutombo ( New Jersey Nets) 6 13 2.17 5. Tim Duncan ( San Antonio Spurs) 7 15 2.14 6. Shawn Bradley ( Dallas Mavericks) 8 17 2.13 7. Kwame Brown ( Washington Wizards) 7 14 2.00 7. Keon Clark ( Sacramento Kings) 5 10 2.00 7. Dan Gadzuric ( Milwaukee Bucks) 5 10 2.00
Didn't see the game, but saw the boxscore. Love the blocks and keep them coming. But what is up with his shooting? Was he posting up and missed layups, long range jumpers? What type of shot was he taking that he missed so much last night? Help anyone?
He takes too many long jumpers. Given his size and rebounding ability, and some improved post moves, he should really concentrate on scoring more around the basket. Plus, he is generally a good shooter, but takes too many too far away - the mid range jumper (which he hits off the backboard sometimes) would be a great weapon in his game.
There was one time in the second half He must of shot 3 or 4 times from about 20 feet. They would get the Offensive rebound and he we shot again. but Missed every time
For those of you who didn't watch the game. There was a few beautiful block sequences. Van Horn went for the inside bucket only to be rejected by Griffin, they got it to Van Horn again who got rejected again by Griffin! There was one REALLY NICE block by Ming and Griffin on McKie, but it was called as a foul. I think Steve is so used to crashing the boards he got in Ming's way every once in a while and boxed Ming out. Griffin is the man, he is slowly becoming my favorite Rocket with that demeanor and silky smooth jumper. Ming uses his size and height to block whereas Griffin will leap, then on the tip of a dime will leap the other direction. That ability to jump up and down like a spring and the precision of the blocks reminds me of Hakeem.
Prediction: EG will be a good player! That guy (unlike many others on this team) hustles his a$$ off and plays both ends of the floor. He deserves better "teammates"... ones that understand this is a "team" game and a game where you play at BOTH ends of the floor. Pray for Ming, it may be his only hope!
That looks like it will be a problem. Franchise is not used to having a big man working in the middle while he is in there. Steve will have to back off and let Eddie Griffin and Yao Ming do the dirty work. We need Steve back on defense and not rebounding!
