why did morey trade for him then if he said something like that? i think morey might give thabeet the gerald green treatment in the future (being waived). at the same time this web site the threadstarter got this information from has a history of being a bullsh!t rumors basketball page in teh past.

I understand that Coach Adelman is well past his prime coaching years and is lacking in effort in coaching up and coming potential younger players.

His comments seem to just let us know that Thabeet will not be one of the great line of Rockets big men. 7'3" and unworthy of an effort.
Adelman needs to be run right out of town!!:p

If Morey said that I have no respect for him at all. That's not something you even should think. The guy is 7'3, he can definitely be a force on the defensive end. I expect him to play 20 mins behind Hayes next year or start, depending on his work ethic and who's the coach. Do people even want Thabeet to succeed ? It sounds like nobody has faith in him.

There is no way Morey would say this.

Bill Ingram is notorious for making up stuff. I highly doubt that Morey ever said anything like that to him.

The main reason I thought it was a bad trade is because: 1) I think it is pretty clear that Thabeet is a stiff (literally) and will give us nothing this or next year. This however would not be a big deal except for the fact that:
    2) The dude is under contract next season for 5 million. That's 5 million dollars of cap space and a roster spot that that would have been better used on someone who could contribute. We can't afford to tie up that money and that roster spot just so we could get a lottery protected 1st round pick sometime during the effing Palin administration.

Bill wrote this from his Mom's basement in Florida. His "sources" are his cats not Morey. He has like 20-25 cats in his house.

did anyone notice that he didn't actually quote morey? he just said that morey said it. since he didn't quote DM, I doubt it was said in that way and it was probably taken out of context.

It's not secret that Thabeet's stock is down. There is a reason that Thabeet and a 1st rounder were gotten for Shane Battier. Look Shane is good but he isn't that GOOD....

Hence, if this is true Morey said that... It's probably just to inspire Thabeet...

Memphis knew Thabeet was garbage. that's why they gave him away.

he will never be a quality NBA player. If he was going to be he would have been already. He was one of those guys that went from the top to bottom

Well said. I have faith in CD's teaching ability, the Dream's mentorship, and Moses Malone as the cool whip. Thabeet is a smart kid but needs to learn the NBA dance.

I never understood why he was considered so good after people saw what blair did to him.

He doesn't have the shoulder width to indicate that it's possible on the adequate musculature to go along with the fantastic height. He's fluid and strong, so maybe he can be a KG or Chris Bosh type without the refined game.

If he did say it, it was clearly in reference to Thabeet being a difference maker this year. Clearly that was not the expectation.

Thabeet will begin to see the court next season.
He will work all offseason. Thats my guess.
