I'd never really listened to them before. I got bored. I looked at my watch and they'd only been playing about 20 minutes but it felt like an hour.

well in kol's case they significantly altered their sound so it's justifiable imo.... just take a listen to their first two albums and compare them to the newer releases.

Listen to their first album. Now listen to their newest album. Then tell me why you think people hate them nowadays

I thought is was a kick ass rock show. I would have like to been there live to hear the feedback and reverb bouncing off the buildings. The solos seemed to be cut off because of the time limit. A few songs just seemed to be building momentum into what could have been an Allman Brothers 15 minute jam and then they just ended. But I guess they aren't really a 'solo' band, though the one 'duel guitar' break when the keyboard guy picked up a guitar was cool.

The whole outdoor feel gave me a Coachella/Bonnaroo vibe, like the band was pretty comfortable playing to big outdoor crowds in the day time.

(the album before this last one was sorta moribund, a lot of trailer park pregnancy songs, but the first two and the latest one are pretty great)

    Would pay to see again

I usually try not to be like those hipsters that hate what becomes popular, but their first album was their best. I wasn't huge on the second, but they still had their somewhat unique sound. I felt like that one sounded too much like The Strokes. I enjoyed Because of the Times, but could see them change a bit.

The last two albums though just seem very bland to me. They no longer have a unique sound and its all very generic. I saw them last night on Palladia playing a concert and even Molly Chambers seemed dull. Its like they slowed it down some and the raw energy of that track was gone.
