Theres some guys here who say one of the reasons they hate Utah so much is becaise they are full of floppers. Well how do you guys feel now that we possibly have two of thegames top 5 floppers. What about all they guys here defending Scola and Martin here. Whats with all this blind obsession/hypocritical business? If Martin and Scola were on another team you guys would say how much you hate them cause they flop so much. But totally look the other way and make excuses for them just because they are on your team. Loyalty is one thing but shoving your toungue up someones bum is another thing. Sticking up for guys on your team who commit mistakes is not being loyal.
what about vocal floppers such as Boozer and Big Baby Davis, both whom holla "HEYYYYYYYYY" everytime theres a shot attempt....Honorable mention to D.Howard although most of the time he actually gets fouled.......But a hate hearing Boozer when he's working in the post...Waitin on a ref to say "Would You Shut the **** Up"
Does Scola flop? Yes, but not nearly as much as he did when he first came to the league. Does he deserve to be #3 on this "list?" Hell no. The author should be passing around what he's smokin'.
It's injustice if Dirk doesn't get on the poll. He's the reason they invented the term flopper. I swear one time, he drove on the Rox, his hair get wind blow onto his face, he fell down and the ref immediately blew the whistle on Scola. Which in a replay, did not even touch the guy.
The author is 152 NBA players who responded to the survey. IMO, if NBA players are saying Scola is one of the biggest floppers in the league, he is. I don't think you get more authoritative than that (except maybe a survey of scouts).
Not trying to defend Scola. But sometimes how the question is asked makes a big difference in a survey. I just can't agree that Scola flops more than guys like Kirilenko or Paul.
kevin martin really isn't a flopper... he draws contact which is different. Might not be hard fouls, but he is without a doubt in tune with what refs will or will not call. If Kevin Martin is on this list, then so should Durant. Huge Durant fan, but he does act a bit more than kevin does when trying to draw a foul.
Just heard this on the radio coming in. I think Shane Battier is at #6. Wow 3 Rockets (well battier is no longer a Rocket) on the top floppers in the league
Martin draws a lot of contact that would not be called a foul if he didn't exagerrate the contact. Most flopping has some contact.
If we're going to get into the nitty gritty, 'drawing a foul' and 'flopping' are different, even though flopping might earn a whistle. Drawing a foul = emphasizing contact (sometimes unnecessarily). (See: Dwayne Wade) Flopping = pure acting to create a perceptual effect of contact where there was none. (See: Andrei Kirilenko) Some players can do both! Yay!
McGrady too. He yells literally 99% of the time he goes to the basket in traffic, and still does to this day. I associate it more with his elevated ego than an attempt to get a foul call every time, though.
That list is racist. Just because at one point, you had long hair you you're automatically black listed? *manu should be winning.
I think we'd have to add Kobe, Lebron and other top perimeter scorers to Kmart's category of flopping. But shooting guards drawing fouls by getting players in the air are more respected/less repulsive than obvious contact fakers. You get someone in the air, they just got "got" and deserve what's comin to em. I think Shane flops plenty but isn't known mainly as a flopper so much because he plays aggressive defense. Grant Hill is playing that same type of defense this year and has drawn the most charges but not one of 152 players voted for him. Doesn't mean he's not somewhere high on the average player's flopper list, but I don't think it's the type of flopping that would tend to get one to the top of a fellow player's flopper list. Maybe that's why AK47 isn't on the list. Or maybe players just try to avoid thinking about him and his face because it reminds them too much of the man that killed Apollo Creed. He should be high up on that list. Loud and demonstrative (scream and flail) flopping is what players will vote for. I also think that players are less likely to vote for superstars and well-respected guys (not always the same thing, but players respect their talented peers) which is why Paul, Shane, and Hill aren't on the list. Boozer and Duncan make annoying faces especially when looking to the refs for the decision on a foul call. I don't think they flop as much as they look annoyed about calls. I'd like to see this poll done but among coaches and GMs.
Also, the question of the SI poll was "who is the best flopper in the game?" but the discussion quickly dissolved to talking about floppers that disgust us and comparing the poll results to those floppers. Depending on how you look at the question, you could argue that the best floppers aren't these obvious ones like AK47 but the ones that don't flail but expertly create the illusion of excessive contact, and many players answering that question may have had that in mind. chamillitary mayne
I dont think Shane is a flopper, he and Chuck are guys that are smart and know how to get in position, they rarely exaggerate the contact unlike Scola, Martin, or Lowry
