Todd Phillips is the top comedy director working in Hollywood. The Hangover is by no means his masterpiece, that would be Road Trip and Old School. But it's a really funny piece.

I think it was one of those right place right time movies (country was sucking economically), that hit a nerve in America. You're right in saying that it a tad over rated because the lulz were not as good as the aforementioned films. And if you take a critical scalpel to it you see that it's the most shallow work in his cannon.

Due Date was a Planes, Trains and Automobile rip off that was flat on the lulz and forced on the heart.

Lets hope he brings it on H2.

when I saw it the first time, I didn't think it was that great, but the repeated viewing made me enjoy that much more, full of memorable quotes I still say at work

I didn't have high expectations with the 2 teasers, but after this trailer, I'm already planning my midnight showing

i think the recycled story will work one more time...a third movie will need something different. i didnt find it that hilarious either, but it was entertaining.

I am not kidding you, I once witnessed a very similar speech at a friend's wedding. The worst part was that the speech was by another friend who at the beginning said that he is speaking for the group of student friends of the groom to which I also belonged. We were all like OMG dude why are you talking about the number of previous boyfriends of the bride and how much money they had and stuff.

By the way, I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE. Even if it is 1:1 the same as the old movie, just in a different setting, that is completely fine with me.

Exactly, It's the standard procedure for Hollywood blockbuster. Been like that since the beginning of sequels... Movies come out every damn Friday at least, so there is something for everybody and I will go seek this sombitch out, I love the first one...

I am a self-professed comedy snob. I prefer the classics like Caddyshack, Airplane, Vacation, or Stripes to any of the new comedies like Old School, Wedding Crashers, etc. which I think are highly overrated. (who decided Vince Vaughn is funny?) But The Hangover would be an exception for me. I loved every minute of that movie.

I'm sure the sequel will be moderately disappointing compared to the original, but if you know that going in, it will probably be pretty funny. I can't wait.

yep, every so often a movie comes out that you missed at the theater, but wished you didn't, (not that seeing it at home isn't bad,...but...)...that happened to me with the original, it will NOT with the sequel...

Looks hilarious. Todd Phillips knows his style. He's not trying to make a complex story or even worrying about writing a new plot, he's just trying to capture hilarious moments on film. Bravo.

Yep, I enjoyed the first one but I was hoping they'd put more effort into the 2nd one. Maybe what they showed in the trailer is purposefully similar to the original so they can keep the new material under wrap, at least that's what I'm hoping.

It's the hangover 2, what kid of plot do you expect it to have?

I doubt it's as good as the first one, but I'll be there anyways.

Meh...way overhyped. Great first movie...it would be tough to come up with something different and funny. So it looks like they just copied and pasted this one together. I get it...it's The Hangover...but the "missing friend" plot again?

Apparently the new trailer is being pulled.....

    http://blog.movies.yahoo.com/blog/1073-new-hangover-2-trailer-is-too-hot-for-mpaa?nc

Like many, we were a bit concerned about the first extended trailer for this summer's "The Hangover Part II," not because it didn't look funny, exactly, but because it looked so much like the original film that the mystery -- one of the best parts of the first film -- would be gone. Director Todd Phillips must have seen some of the reaction, because he made sure everyone knew that the trailer was too PG-13 to show what the movie was really about.

But it must not have been PG-13 enough. The MPAA and Warner Bros have demanded that the trailer be pulled from all theaters.

Slashfilm obtained a copy of the letter sent to theaters, which states (emphasis theirs):

"Warner Bros. and the M.P.A.A. have instructed all theatres to remove The Hangover Part II trailer #2 from Source Code and any other placements. These #2 trailers need to be DELETED FROM YOUR SERVER." adding: "We greatly appreciate your immediate cooperation on this matter."

So, what's the issue? The trailer doesn't strike us as particularly offensive, but we do not have delicate sensibilities. Also: Why "Source Code," specifically? Did Summit just want the film as far away from "Hangover" as possible? Why? Is it the coarse language? Was Jake Gyllenhaal offended? (You do not want to offend Jake Gyllenhaal.) We are so full of questions. We asked the MPAA for comment, and they referred us to Warner Bros, who, of course, aren't commenting on the matter. (A Warner Bros rep hasn't responded to our request for comment.)

UPDATE: Warner Bros issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter regarding the trailer's abrupt removal from theaters: "In our haste to meet the placement schedule for this trailer, we failed to properly vet the final version with the MPAA. We acted immediately to correct the mistake and removed the trailer from screens."

The only other time we can recall something like this happening was when the "Paranormal Activity 2" trailer was pulled from theaters after "numerous complaints" that the 72-second preview was too scary for the general public. Of course, many suspected that was a stunt intended to generate press for the film -- and this latest development certainly hasn't stopped people from talking about "The Hangover Part II."

I was at the Improv last night. The Edwards theater was super packed when I got out. Folks were lined up every where in the lobby.

It's getting hammered in the reviews. Saying it's all the same jokes again, etc.

Pretty much what I expected. Still going to see it on Monday with a group of friends though.

I would expect that. It was going to be very hard for them to live up to what the first one was. I still plan on seeing it maybe tomorrow.
