Our two best offensive players fully showed their weaknesses.

Luis Scola showed us his lack of defense throughout the year ... and then got his first injury in 4 years. It now seems we overpaid him last summer.

Kevin Martin improved his defense a bit but still disappears in games where we really need his offense.

Question for the front office: Do we keep them or give them up for youth and potential?

For those who follow other sports, now is a good time to focus more on them until the end of the season.

We are Houston sports fans; that alone is a prescription for clinical depression. Think about it, we are about to begin the Astro season following by another predictable Texans season, which is followed by the Rockets. Prediction, Yao comes back, is injured again, team falls apart, gets it together at All Star break, makes a run, falls short, finishes 9th, gets the 14th pick for the third year in a row, drafts Novak's cousin (who no one has ever heard of) and the cycle begins again. I think I am going to take my medicine and go to bed.;)

Well maybe not other Houston sports cus they're equally as depressing.

I follow soccer and F1, so it does help take some much needed attention away from basketball.

I blame all of this crap on those morons at the beginning of the season declared us the 2nd of the West when the Rockets just came off a season in which they finished 42-40 and were counting on Yao Ming coming back from a potential career ending injury. I never understood those arguments at all

Wait till next season and Yao is once again regarded as the savior of this team. If Yao is back he should be a backup Center till he is 100% healthy.

It could be worse. The Vipers could miss the playoffs, too. At least, we get to see Thabeet in a playoff game.

    Whopeee! It's Viper TIME!:(

i typically don't like knee jerk type threads, but this all crossed my mind today too.

if we were to sit and talk objectively about the worst-case scenario for this season, i have a feeling that this result would be high on the list.

we're going to end up worst lottery pick (again), still no franchise player after how many trade deadlines and offseasons, our young players didn't improve much if at all and are still very inconsistent, we're talking about changing the coaching staff meaning all the system players we have are going to have to go, we still have no legitimate center, and all of our TBD draft picks are going to be bad ones.

this isnt emotion talking, it's just the way it worked out. shame really.

Battier hasn't been the heart and soul of the team this season... lucky to get anything for him, plus opened up minutes for other players.

Losing a must win game isn't exactly knee jerk.

A lot of us knew that this would happen.... which is why I was all for tanking. Nothing could come from this season. The only real bright spot is kyle playing really well. Scola is getting older and martin still isn't that game changer we need.

making a thread bemoaning that "the worst things ... have happened" before the team is even mathematically eliminated is knee-jerk, yes. any type of instantaneous emotional reaction is really.

my post was just to point out that even when you put emotion aside and think about the likely result of the season, the op isn't that far off with his post.
