I would say there's an audience for it, but not a larger one. Young girls, current and former players, coaches, family, etc. I think you kind of answered you're own question though. They don't have enough viewers, so they need to push it more to try to get more. Personally i don't follow it much, but I'll watch a bit every once in a while just to see what the talent is like.
Their friends & family, Comet-boy, probably a lot of fans at Tennessee, Connecticut, Baylor, Texas Tech,etc. There are some fans of college and professional female-basketball.
Never watch it on TV, but my school's womens team has been pretty decent since I've been here so I always try to go to the games. Basketball's always fun to watch live. I'd probably be more likely to watch womens basketball on ESPN than Poker or Bowling or something like that.
