HOU: 24-28 FTM/A MIA: 28-34 FTM/A HOU 9 ORB/ 33 Total RB MIA 17 ORB/ 48 Total RB which stats stand out to you ? not saying the refs aren't biased. saying they didn't cost us this game. (and it is a little funny that we complain about superstar treatment when our SG is number 4 in FTA - one less than Wade).
George Karl, a mad scientist in his own way, knew that refs could not and would not call the illegal defense everytime down the court. He used it to his advantage. The FTM/FTA stat does not tell the entire story.
This thread, yes, is for complaining. Being rockets fans I think we have endured a great deal of bias from the refs. I also think that its good to let these feelings out but when people spew crap all over the garm it becomes unbearable. So, I thought perhaps this thread could be stickied to help clean up any excessive complaining.
Does anyone else noticed that towards the end the refs call it tighter on the supserstars team so that Rockets have to tone down on the defense in order to keep from fouling out and giving away free throws? Then the Rox get blamed for weak defense and the other team "clearly" was the better team. This is getting really annoying, if the refs would have swallowed their whistles we wouldn't have any problems.
They were better than us, but the refs completely sucked. Games like this are why the NBA is almost unwatchable. If you don't have the LeCuntWade going for you there is absolutely no reason to be excited. Even if your team is better, the refs are never gonna let a team beat them unless they also have their own form of LeCuntWade.
you guys saying this is whining, can you tell me with a straight face that nba officiating is good?? Its not whining, we would be solidly in the playoffs if we didn't get screwed so much, seriously we have to have some of the dumbest fans around
No Proof just pure speculation: I honestly dont think that Tim Donaghy thing was/is a one off case. I would not be surprised if there were a few more officials involved still today. Some of the calls have fix written all over them, especially when the game is on the line. Im not saying every ref is involved. But underground organised gambling rackets are huge and very wide spread. Organised crime groups like the Mafia and Triads gamble by the billions across various sports every year. As if these guys wouldnt want sure returns on such massive investments. As if these guys wouldnt want some sort of control. And its not just the officials, I wouldnt be surprised if there a few players who make cash on the side from throwing games - turning the ball over, missing shots, or playing bad D. Some of these guys have really suspicious characters, players have been busted for invlovement in drug peddling to known affiliation with well known gangsters and gangs. Some of these guys still love the "THUG" image, despite playing in the NBA and making millions. I wouldnt put it past one or two of them. Once again just random speculation.
I dont blame the refs at all....They just doing their jobs...Its not their fault they have these lame rules to uphold...
What about the foul on Lowry? The Heat player stuck out his leg to initiate the contact & was rewarded 3 free throws. Budinger knocks the ball away from Wade, but the back official calls a foul. There was no way he could see from his view, he just assumed that Bud fouled Wade, instead of getting all ball.
You say we have some of the dumbest fans around and yet you made one of the dumbest comments in this thread by stating "we would be solidly in the playoffs if we didn't get screwed so much". Do really think the Houston Rockets are the only team to get screwed by the refs this year? Do you watch the other teams fighting for playoff spots to see if they get screwed by the refs? If not then your statement makes no sense.
This is somewhat of an overstatement. There are a number of games where we should have won, but the overall officiating stopped us, I'll agree with that whole heartedly. However, in those "close" games there are a number of possessions we squandered away such that it kept the game close. Look at our five game losing streak to start the season for reference. In those games most of the time we had a decent lead, then the team just sat around and got in an offensive lull. Part of the problem is we don't have a go to guy, a closer, and the other part was we were in midst of a transition between Lowry and Brooks. Did the officials bone us last night? Oh yeah they did. Have they done it before, sure. Will they continue to do it? Yes. The only way we will be able to win is to take commanding leads, hold them, and not let the game close. In close games the guys in black and white will favor the superstars. Always. Until we have the talent of LeQuit, KB24, or even a Durant we have to rely on other means to win. Incidentally I think another solution to our losing woes is to ask Kevin, Kyle and Chase to change their last names to James, Bryant, and Wade. I think then we might have a fighting chance with the officials...
