my god, what a woman. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="960" height="750" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pMnAmRa4NYw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
people like that mullah are what make pakistan the ass-backwards of a country that it is. Get with the times and move toward a more secular republic, India has left pakistan behind, the sole reason is because of the fundamentalists that have taken root.
I disagree. This is why Pakistan is failing: http://english.aljazeera.net/photo_galleries/centralsasia/20113219931992945.html The reason schools are in atrocious shape is corruption on all levels of government. If people were educated, weird mullahs wouldn't have the pull they sometimes do. Close to half the people in Pakistan don't know how to read or write - that should give you some kind of idea how bad it is.
Having a country like Pakistan armed with nuclear weapons and share a border with its most illogically hated nuclear enemy is a very dangerous situation for the world IMO. In this video, Veena is technically wrong. She is/was in breach of several Sharia rules, even at the least conservative levels in Pakistan. But that's besides the point. The point is that Sharia morphs because it is shaped by humans, who themselves are always morphing. Sharia will always mutate in direct unison and correlation with the mutation that the surrounding population is going through. That alone should tell you about the divinity of this Sharia, given that it is constantly changing according to PEOPLE. The extremists in Pakistan need to know that they are following exactly the Sharia they chose, and these are the results. It's tiring to hear them whine about how "if it was applied perfectly, it would be good" > that's bull****. This is the Sharia they want, and it's time for them to man up and own up to the results. An actress who is dressed too feely for their taste is a problem ONLY by the imposition of Sharia and has not happened MORE frequently than it would without Sharia. Illiteracy on the other hand is a problem worsened by the application of Sharia. If they want this sharia, then hold them accountable. This Mufti is also not at fault. From the video it appears as though he is INVITED to offer his thoughts, and as twisted as his thoughts are, he tries to sugar coat his comments as much as possible before she freaks out on him. The really sad part is that I am genuinely worried about her well-being after this. Considering the recent assasinations in Pakistan, I have little faith that someone can go out and publicly attack the extremists without retaliation. Pakistan is such a sad story. A country where extremism runs free, and the extremists' biggest concern is the importation of bras that makes breasts look nice, Veena Malik appearing on big brother, and a Christian woman talking trash. These freaking extremists don't even seem to have a consistent view about development, education, politics, etc. But they are all in agreement about Veena Malik.
The alarming thing is Abdul Qavi (the Mufti) isn't even extremist. He's just right of center I had the unfortunate experience of being stuck in the same airport lounge as an extremist cleric in Quetta. Man, I tell you the things that were coming out of that man's mouth makes Qavi look like Salman Rushdie.
Thanks for posting this video, Basso. Women in Islam need courageous people like Veena Malik to speak out publicly with a strong voice to counter the rhetoric of ignorant and backward idiots. She reminds me a lot of my mother and aunt, who never back down from making a scene like Veena when hurtful comments attack their liberal views and behavior.
