I didn't see this posted anywhere, but if it was, please remove this.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I was the only one, but Fred used to be the most annoying damn analyst in the world to me with that ridiculous smile and point. Now, I might have to rethink that. :)

He was on the V show earlier tonight on ESPN radio (about 7:20 or so), and after he fielded a series of questions about Yao Ming, he was asked what he thought about the Rockets this season. He said something to the effect that while everyone thinks Sacramento, Los Angeles, SA, and Dallas are locks for the top four spots, he doesn't necessarily see it that way.
He said that he wouldn't be surprised to see one of the latter two fall out, and for Houston to make a move for one of the top four spots.

He basically said that anything offensively from Yao Ming was just a bonus, and that just his presence in the lane and his rebounding around the basket would give them the huge defensive presence like Dikembe Mutombo had in Philadelphia.

It's not that this means anything for the season, but I thought it was worth noting since this was by far the most positive prediction I've heard from any analyst.

That's a cool and ballsy prediction to make. It breaks the media norm of sitting on the fence and scoping out which team's ass to kiss.

    Thanks for the info.

Yup. He used to seem somewhat repetitive and basically trying to get attention, but if you like my team, I don't care. :)

Yes, if he gives the rocks props he becomes smarter, e.g. Ainge just was on TNT saying good things about them at halftime as one of the teams to watch out for. Danny FREAKING AINGE! I still hate him though

Any scoring that Ming gives is a bonus? From what I saw in this game, scoring should be no problem at all for Ming... I expect at least 10 to 12 points a game from him.

His presence is helpful inside, but he needs to work on his boxing out in order to make a true impact on the boards.

I've always been a big fan of Fred Carter, from the NBA 2night show. Now, I'm an even bigger fan of his.

Man, I can't wait for the real games to start!

I say Fred is a pretty smart man.

Wake up and smell the Rockets.

    Good night.

Well both the statements of Fred and Ainge are consistent with my well documented thoughts about the team and its output this year. I did say that I am beginning to feel the media is aware of us and it is just a matter of time before they vocalize it.

I think it is amazing how EG's performance (blocks) is getting so little play, thanks to Yaoism.
