I was not able to watch the game, but for those who did, were there a lot of improvementS? It sure sounded like Griffin was a "one man recking crew" . Every1 knows about his D, but how was his offense? His low post? Rice, he made a couple threes, is he in good shape? Does it look like he can be a 30 min guy? Bostjan- Has his O improved? and MING- Is he alterin a lot of shots? Thaxs 4 the answers in advance GO ROCKETS
The only improvement tonight came from Yao. The rest of the Rockets were pathetic. Hopefully they will be able to work a few things out in practice before heading to Indiana. The Pacers will be without Reggie and O'neal, so they had better win.
thats horrible. Francis had 3 assists! IVERSON HAD LIKE 14! hopefully Steve gets the other guys more involved in the season!
Griffin had 7 blocks after he got 6 last night. This cannot be pathetic. The team got talents. , but still lost, that's pathetic.
13 points 5 rebounds and 2 blocks is pretty impressive stuff from Yao.With more experience he won't get in foul trouble as quickly as he is doing right now.I didn't see the game but they did show him making that fluid reverse layup under the basket and coming up with his first block as well as missing a 3 point attempt on ESPN. He is going to be good. Most of the teams will have trouble with him and that can really increase our chances of making the playoffs.I was happy to see Nachbar bounce back from the last game as well.
I would agree on a whole the Rockets were bad tonight, but what about Steve? He tore it up out there I thought.
I'm worried. They come out to start the game strong- crisp passing, no hesitation.....simple basketball. Their effectiveness slowly declines as the game progresses, but they come out in the 2nd half with a half-hearted attempt to run the 5-man game, giving fans false hope that a light has switched on in their heads; but regardless of how successful they are when running it, like clockwork, around the 3 minute point every 3rd quarter, the offense completely devolves into the complexity of a church league game. I wouldn't be worried if we had a coach that didn't stand there bumbling, fiddling with his hands, unable to form the words to call a play that invariably never comes. But alas, he submits to our guard's stupidity and its the worst carry over from last season with this team. I wish I could attribute my pessimism to unsubstantial fears, but when I see Mobley mouth the words "This is the fourth quarter, we'll take over" to Yao against San Antonio, and then Francis say aloud to himself "Man, just get me the ball." in the waning moments of tonight's game, I worry. I hope when they step on the court Oct. 30th against Indiana, it'll just happen, and they'll be imbued with a sense of professionalism......but who knows....if not, I'm not going to bet that the only one who criticizes them during the game (former video scout who got promoted to the bench last season) can convert them.
This is a really STUPID title for an article .. "Yao Slowly Adjusts to Life in NBA" WTF.. The guys only been here..what.. 5 days now I guess he should have been adjusted after the 3rd day. http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?Date=20021024&Category=APS&ArtNo=210241088&Ref=AR
tacoma, whats up? are you not on your meds? it was a preseason game, they were leading with the starters in there and then stunk it up with the guys who are on the bubble. by the time the regs were back in, they were trying to come back, hence the ol' stand-by. what is there to be worried about? this game means NOTHING to anyone but the guys trying to make the team, and dragon. just take a deep breath and relax. damn, i can see gettin fired up, but wait till the reg season at least before you start the "i am worried" posts. god, sometimes i hate this board.
leaves me with a terrible taste in my mouth. I dont even know what the hell that was in the second half, surely not basketball. the guards totally dominated the ball in the fourth quarter. clear outs and isos that turned Ming into a bystander on the sides with his hands on his knees. once Mobley and Francis decided to play 2 on 5 out there that was all she wrote. i really dont want to believe you heard what you heard from mobley and francis during the fourth periods of the last two games but their play during the fourth backs your claim up. Ming was outstanding. every time he touched the ball on offense something good seem to happen. whether it was a quick kickout for an assist or a solid jumper that touched nothing but net. Francis and Mobley shut him out in the second half and turned him into Cato which is pretty damn discouraging.
You know, I havn't been able to watch a game yet, but looking at the box scores I have noticed a few things. We are getting beat pretty bad on offensive rebounds and therefore, rebounds period. We are also getting less assists than the other teams. However, I have noticed that we are doing an excellent job on blocks, granted Eddie isn't going to have a 6 or 7 blocks every night, but its a good start. It seems that if we can teach Yao to box out and rebound this season and if stevie can distribute the ball a little better, we should do very well this season. It's the preseason, just needs a little fine tuning.
yeah, all the iso's they were running towards the end were really pissing me off. steve and cat need to remember that we have other people on this team that can contribute offensively. But otherwise, Yao looked alot more comfortable tonight. I think as he gets adjusted to the offense his production is just going to keep improving. Rice's shot was impressive again, looks like he is back.
