45-37 is doable, but the Rockets need to win @Miami or @Philly on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. Both will be tough.

It's pretty simple. They're worse after losing West. The Rockets chances got much better esp with their schedule.

You think Lakers/Celtics fans like each other more now since all those legends in their rivalries are retired? Get real man. Jazz will always be the Anti-Rockets. That is one thing that will never change.

That would seem to be the case only for whatever reason Paul got out of his funk and looked much better after west went down then all the time before.

The Nuggets were supposed to be worst after Anthony got traded. The Rockets were supposed to get worst after losing Battier. Funny thing about chemistry. It doesn't much care about what people think is going to happen. If the Hornets win tonight we can forget about catching them.

So far this year, Chris Paul has played 390 minutes without David West on the court with him, the Hornets are a net +118 during these 390 minutes. They were +154 in the 2139 minutes with both Paul and West on the floor together.

Small sample, but it seems at least the evidence suggests that Chris Paul can have his team playing pretty effectively without West.

Anyhow, I wouldn't count on getting much help from the Hornets. The Rockets just need to win some games and hope for the best (which most likely won't happen, but oh well).

Yes and that sample isn't counting the terrible play I saw last night out of Paul. I have never seem him look worst and the body language between him and west was terrible. Paul screamed to Monty Williams in the middle of the game complaining about West. Williams looked like he didn't know what to do. West never passed the ball once when he got it on the offensive end. I know West is a talent but he wasn't playing to win he was playing to get his and Paul was not a happy camper. I hope New Orleans is so bad even with an improved Paul that they lose tonight. But if they win I doubt we catch them.

Just as I thought Paul is back and that is greater than West being out. Forget about catching the Hornets and the Grizzlies are playing great too. It's not our year. But we did jump ahead of Suns to lock down that 14th lottery slot.

We still got a chance to catch Grizzlies - we hold the tiebreaker over them.

Maybe but I'll say it for the enth time the chemistry looked terrible with Paul and west on the floor. Landry is a drop off from West but the chemistry is so much better I mean majorly much better tonight then last night, I don't think Paul stepped it up for west.. I think Paul feels like it's all on him now and he stepped up for the team and his own pride. Yeah they'll lose to the Lakers but that was an obvious loss. They have to win 4 more games and 8-2 by us won't even be good enough.

I have similar thoughts as well.

I mean...so much for writing off Memphis and New Orleans, heh. Hate to say this but I'll stand by it: Rockets will be on the outside looking in and wont get the help they need. Just cant leave your playoff hopes in the hands of another team. As Mike Singletary said, can't do it! Rockets have to be near perfect, if not perfect, and even then still hope a team(or two) stumbles enough along the way.

The barely beat the SUns who were in desperate play last shot to make the playoff mode. The same team that beat us when we went to their home in desperate to win to save our chances and lost. And the Hornets did it after looking pathetic the night before without their Scoring leader and star West after the played the night before in an overtime struggle against the Jazz.

And what makes it special is they did because Chris Paul looked like a star again so that is the problem. Yeah they have a tough schedule ahead and surely will lose some more games but if they win 4 more games 4MORE GAMES we will have to go 9-1. I ask you what is more likely to happen. The newly motivated Chris Paul lead Hornets winning 4 MORE GAMES or the Rockets winning 9 MORE GAMES.

Why so negative? Grizzlies are just ONE game of distance, and Rockets have the tiebreaker....

Catching Hronets would be a plus...but hey, Playoff is not that impossible....

Are you one of the pro-tanking guys?

I remember negative people a short ago, they b****ed and whined, I can't belive they're still whining now....what's the problem with you people?

Even if Rockets don;t make the playoffs, can't you enjoy the good games and the heart of the team (after the cancer of AB is gone) at least a little bit?

I think it's hilarious that people go into crisis mode after one game and start making random nonsensical statements like "CHRIS PAUL IS RE-ENERGIZED NOW DERP".

Reading comprehension is definitely not a prerequisite on this board. Neither is intelligence.

Ya'll are dogging Old Man Rock, but not reading what he said.

He said the "Hornets" not the "Grizzlies". The Rockets have to win 4 more games than the Hornets. That's all he said.

Grizzlies +1 win (Rockets own tiebreaker)
Hornets +4 wins (Hornets own tiebreaker)

It's pretty easy to tell that our odds of knocking out the Hornets are a pipe dream. The Hornets are still winning.

Rockets have to overtake the Grizzlies not the Hornets.

He is one of the best posters on the board.
