The thing about a low ball offer in the NBA is that he'd still make more in a year than most of us make in 20 years. And I'm not worried about Chuck becoming one of those guys who goes bankrupt. He's entirely too smart and grounded.
LOL, that's exactly what I was thinking. The secret is out!!! The only thing I disagree is about Chuck's passing skill. He has always been a great passer. People just didn't notice it, or they just wrote him off as anything positive on offense. His passing skill is enhanced even more in Adelman's system with the high post big man initiating the offense. He is actually more likely to get double digit assists than a guy like Martin. So in a way, him getting a triple double is not as surprising as it seems.
I totally agree but a guy like Rasheed Lewis is getting paid like 10 times chucks wage and I know who I'd prefer. I know a 6"6 center with limited offense isn't going to get 10 mil per and the rockets or any other team wont be paying that.. Just a good, fair acknowledgement from management that they appreciate him is enough, it's hard to put a number on it. We just can't let the guy leave.
Honestly, I'm not surprised by Chuck's (or Kyle's) triple-double(s). I considered starting a thread earlier in the season predicting who'd be the first Rocket to get one this season. My guess was going to be one of those two guys. /patting myself on the back.
He wasn't actually on the show; they just talked about it. Tony Kornheiser is a douche that's "never heard of him." Wilbon showed some respect. The topic was over/under another triple-double in Hayes' career.
Yeah, I was disappointed. Just an over/under clip that included a mention of Hayes triple-double. Nothing to summarize.
Yeah, and further, I disagree with his comment about Low Post passer. He's usually high post, so he doesn't clog the lane on offense.
That same quote also tells you everything you need to know about why JVG and Adelman both kept insisting on giving minutes to Chuck, even when he was blowing layup after layup and scaring little children with his free-throw form.
Thanks for sharing. It was a nice read and it's great to see Chuck get some love out of Houston. Chuck is a player good enough to be a rotational player even on a championship caliber team and the article states his low profile game well even if it took a triple double to get it out there.
He has improved dramatically no doubt. I can already see him trying to improve his free throw shooting further and practicing to add a mid range shot during this offseaon. However, he still misses a lot of layups and needs further improvement on fisnish around the basket. But its so much harder for him to do that because he has to do it againt guys who are half a foot taller than him with bteer jumping abilities. Over all, good to see him finally getting some recognition and props. No one deserves it more than Chuck "The ChuckWagon" Hayes.
He should be thankful we even gave him the chance lol ....... He was undrafted so i better hope he accepts whatever the Rox offers him ...
Yep. Players like Chuck are nice little reminders why scouts and coaches get paid the big bucks. Most of us would have glued him to the bench his rookie year if we had things our way.
Is it necessary to be such a hypocrite about Yao, especially when Yao is widey recognised as a loyal and hardworking player? I fully believe Chuck would do his own things no matter who's around him. Diamond in the rough is going to be found. There is no need to conspire some hypocritical theory to make it an ugly goose turning into a swan story. I don't know what is in your mind, but they surely are full of some low life stuff.
