Should the Griz consider moving Rudy Gay this offseason?

I understand he has turned into a nice player and is/was their leader but since he has been out they have had some VERY impressive wins at Dallas, Boston and vs SA. It isn't that they are playing better without him but that they are playing just as good.

Normally, I don't react to a small sample size but they look so focused and Tony Allen is turning into one hell of a defender. If they re-sign Z-Bo and Gasol, trading Gay for depth and to shed his salary might be a smart move...just a thought.

That's like saying let's trade Scola because we won against the Celtics without him.

    Haha, no.

Hell noooo!!!! Just because they are winning does not mean they are playing better. Memphis will be even more dangerous with Gay in their lineup. They should do everything to keep Randolph and Gasol as well.

If anyone can be traded its Mayo. Id like to see them add a 3 point specialsit in the starting line up next to Gay, Gasol and Randolph. Tony Allen and Sam Young can come off the bench. Along with Vasquez (6'6 PG) and Arthur that bench will be productive. Plus they have Xavier Henry to think about as well.

They should trade Mayo for a 3 point specialist or another good 7 footer to spell Gasol.

Would anybody be willing to give equal talent for that contract?

I don't think they should nor do I think they will. They don't have any glaring holes at other positions and obtaining equal value will be difficult (making trading him pointless).

Rudy Gay is a beast. He was actually playing good defense and rebounding like a PF before he got hurt.

Can't replace his combination of length, athleticism, skill and production without getting LeBron or Durant in his place.

Memphis is the West version of the Atlanta Hawks..They have great young talent but they dont have "championship-level" talent..And although unfair, Rudy Gay like Joe Johnson, is a big part of why they wont ever be serious contenders...He has outstanding talent but it doesnt translate to team success...Both would make great 2nd or 3rd options but not someone to build your team around...So with that I say if the right deal comes, then you have to consider trading him...Early playoff exits will be what Memphis will experience for the near future until they trade or get another greatt player..

I wouldn't trade him for depth. But, I would package him up to try to get an even better player, if possible.

Overrated and not worth his contract, IMO.

No. They're probably going to trade OJ Mayo.

you have to look at it like this.......who would you rather have if it came down to it,Z-Bo or Gay??legit Bigs are hard to come by right rockets fans!! if it came down to it i would keep Z-Bo and trade gay for something of equal value. Whether that be a player,picks,contracts,etc.........gay will never be a superstar so its not like he cant be replaced in some degree.........BUT IF YOU CAN KEEP BOTH ....DO IT......IT IS WRITTEN.

The Clips should take a hard look at Gay if he became available and they have the money to spend and young talent and picks......to me the perfect fit....imagine..

    Bledsoe
    Gordon
    Gay
    Griffin
    Jordan

......that would be a OK city like team building move that would set them up for years...

They have to give him back to us since we returned Battier to them. Ask Bima. :)

They really should never have signed him to that stupid extension in the first place. Yeah, he's been shooting the ball a little better and has given slightly more effort on D this year, but he's basically been the exact same player for the last four years. I don't think he's going to make the jump.

That said, I think they're stuck with him. No one's going to give away equal talent to get him, and they would be worse off without him.

No way should the Grizzlies trade Rudy Gay.

With that said, saying you need an MVP candidate as the only way to replace his production, skill set etc.. is downright hilarious. He's like a more talented, fluid Gerald Wallace without the defensive prowess. An Andre Iguodala type. Thats a far cry from Lebron and Durant.

What is your position on signing Z-Bo?

    Absolutely not.

Grizzlies fans think they have a shot at being a contender as is. They have Gay, Conley and soon-to-be Marc Gasol who are all young and locked in for the next several years. Add that mix to a 20/10 Zach Randolph and who knows how far they can go in a few years.
