MIP meaning... Minor in possession of cupcakes...

Any ways I was playing with numbers and I looked at the last 8 games against above avg point guards, including Paul Lowry Rondo M. Williams D Williams S Curry J Kid S. Nash, Lowry has allowed an avg of 12.65 pts and 9.85 pts and his season def stats tot rebounds 4.1 1.4 steals and .3 blks while Rondo allowed 15.45 points and 8.75 assists while avg 4.2 tot rbs 2.3 stls and .2 blcks all season.

Rondo was the all first team pg last year by a land slide so I was curious what do ya'll think Lowry's chances are at getting an all defensive team selection this year? I think he has a shot for the 3rd spot, simply because he is not a big name like Dwill or Rondo. I'll try and get full season stats when I have more time, just something I was curious if people have thought about since lately I have noticed Lowry has been pretty good at shutting out stud pgs..

At least in my opinion, many selections for all-defense are based on reputation and there are not too many surprises. Of course you will have a Sefolosha or a Verejao get in based on that year's performance, but overall, I would be quite surprised (pleasantly) if Lowry got on the 2nd team all-defense.

I never thought of Lowry as a shut down defender. If you can show some stats that say otherwise, I'd be interested to see it.

He is, I think, a good defender but not really one that's deserving of All-Defense recognition. He's scraps and somehow the way he plays seems to pick up the energy of the other guys on the floor.

Yeah, it takes some time for a defensive player to get that recognition. But once they do they start to rack up multiple defensive awards.

NO MIP please. Just like coach of the year, most improved player is a curse too.

Player won MIP usually means his career is start going down hill. :(
    Well, except Monta Ellis

    On a side note.

Coach of the year usually got fired the following year.
    Well, except Gregg Popovich.

if RA won the coach of the year, that means...:(

You usually need to win the championship if you get the Coach of the Year award to be safe against the curse.

Scotty Brooks might be the exception this year. And who knows, the Thunder could win it all this year for all we know.
