Well, that settles it in my mind. Rick deserves an extension if he wants one. I thought he wanted out because we are not contenders but what other coach is better than the one we have? No one.

Les, man up and give this coach his overdue contract extension.

The defense has been lacking this season because a certain 7'6 center was being moved in and out of the lineup until he gave way to re-re-re-injury. Celtics have been flailing of late since the absence of Kendrick Perkins. The Lakers defense would go to ***** without Bynum or Gasol. A defensive-minded big man is imperative to successful team defense. Morey even said so himself.

I don't think there's going to be a season next year. Could be one of the reasons why he hasn't been offered an extension.

You say you blame Adelman for his inconsistent rotations but are you sure he's not just playing the hand he was dealt? Once again, this team is riddled with injuries and we traded two of our starters. I'm not sure what Adelman could have done about that.

Adelman has done a great job, I would love it if he came back, but a new coach would be interesting.

The Butler coached was interviewed on PTI and they noted how he makes use of advanced analytics. Someone like that (not him necessarily), a young wunderkind that shares Morey's general philosophy, would if nothing else, be interesting.

FWIW, Morey has said a good coach can give you five extra wins and a bad coach five extra losses.

Wth. nobody is better for this team than Adelman. give him 5 more years. 3 at least.
Chuck Hayes has an offensive game now, Lowry dropped a triple double and is a 3 point threat. 22 game win streak. over .500 with no stars.
    guy is real.

Brad Stevens is only 13 years old, I don't think it's legal to hire him for another 5 years.

I didn't think he wanted to stay. But if he does, sign him up.

In fairness to the Rockets management, the team has only really taken off after the All-Star break. Previous to that, the team was very disappointing, losing close game one after another. We had the personnel (as evidenced by the addition by subtraction thing) but RA took a long time to get it together, over-used favorite but nonperforming players, had lousy rotations and no endgame playcalling. Early in the season, he also kept complaining about the travel to China, the schedule, etc. etc. Real grumpy.

Now that the team is performing well, there is no joy greater to RA than seeing his system being played before his eyes. I doubt he wants to go to another team and spend how long teaching a new team his system once more.

However, the question is: Does Les still trust him? If we make it to the playoffs, maybe Les will rethink that decision. But I understand it also if he thinks we need a change.

Morey/Management said they had banked on Yao being healthy this season. God knows how he could have made such a critical error but thats why he didn't make getting a C his top priority, who knows maybe we could have also gotten better value for brooks. Again I'm not saying he didn't try, but it wasn't at the top of the list like it should have been.

Then when Yao goes down Adelman is left with a scrambled army with no sense of direction just like season after season, yet he keeps his calm and keeps the team as focused and motivated as possible. Make no mistake, the team went out there and gave it everything they had every single night and coach adelman was a main proponent of this. His players like playing for him.

The general is the one that directs the army on the floor, but even he can only do so much. I think 90% of us on here at least acknowledge that and the fact that upgrading him is not a realistic possibility. If he goes, its our loss.

adelman is a good coach. he's done a good job. however, it's not like there arent potentially better coaches out there. if we want a championship level coach, then just about anyone else we get will have just as much championship experience as adelman...

as far as who we get, i would have loved to have Thibs, but he went to Chicago. If Les doesn't want another "name" coach and the salary that entails, then we're going to likely see someone else's assistant coach named the next rockets coach. how bout Elie? :) heh.

Never said I fully blamed him or it was his entire fault, though I agree with you that injuries caused some inconsistency but when everyone was healthy he still had problems with trying to figure out the right rotation, one reason our record was so bad, and now with a consistent rotation look at where we are now. Injuries are a part of the game.
You say 2 starters were traded, are you talking about battier and brooks, well brooks lost his starting job during the season, and although I like battier (one of my favs) fact doesn't change that we are playing a lot better after we traded them.

Rick Adelman has been awesome for this team! If they fire him, it will be a complete travesty and I will be so frickin' mad!

Adelman is able to put a winning team out on the floor no matter who he has on the court! Give the team some more fricking talent and then let's see what Adelman can really do!!

Wow, that is a pretty straight forward article.

BTW- if Adelman goes, a lot of the players that are thriving now are going to suffer if they bring in a new system.

It takes a while for players to get comfortable in the read and react style of play, and our guys are nailing it these days with Hayes passing, Lowry cutting and passing and scoring, Kmart playing off the ball, Lee....Chase playing well.

If you go to a different coach who doesn't run a similar system, some of these guys might struggle....

I think the team could dip a bit before it got better...

They should offer Rick a 3 year extension, IMO.

I do think that Morey had to trade his "Comfort food" players away, and said as much in a thread much earlier in the year, but that is common place in the NBA, for a lot of GMs....coaches are creatures of habit, sometimes you just have to do what you know is right, and shake things up.

I think the Morey and Adelman combo has worked out OK, and would like to see where they both take the team going forward.

    Just my .02

I think 'in fairness to' can be replaced easily by 'because of'. The Yao fiasco was caused by management (minute mandate). The team playing tight until after the trade deadline is a result of the way management operates. The lack of continuity is caused by management constantly making moves. A roster with tons of duplication that makes it hard for guys to find a role is caused by management.
