sigh. To those who say Baseball isn't a contact sport: it is when Pete Rose takes out Ray Fosse's shoulder in an all-star game. The quote above says "Okay?" like the writer is trying to prove an obvious point. When you have to cite reasons that a sport is a contact sport, then it isn't; because it likely has rules prohibiting contact much beyond incidental or accidental. See Basketball as well. Soccer, Baseball, Cricket, Basketball are not in the same discussion of contact sports as sports that actually legally allow brutal hits: Football, Rugby, Aussie Barbecues, Hockey.
Baseball legally allows brutal hits. Your Rose example shows that. Not that I would compare it to football or rugby by any stretch of the imagination since collisions don't happen every game.
No. Only Madrid players do that <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4VgWGo5D6aU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Does not make it a contact sport. Yeah, you can legally, brutally hit the only guy wearing (essentially) football gear, because you are actually a fool to try .. See Mike Scioscia's portfolio of stupid runners trying to be Pete Rose.
Reminds me of Schumacher vs. Battiston in semi-final of the 1982 World Cup. Still can't believe no foul was called on that play.... <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tGq7VcaHoqo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hadouken! <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eIdjsO7sk1M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
For some reason, this reminded me of that video where the kid in Barcelona (I think?) jumps off a ledge and smashes his skull on the concrete below and splits his face wide open. God, I think I'm going to throw up now.
And he's alive even after his face is half open. I saw that on facebook, not sure why I saw it or how it was on Facebook.
