Why did we play Francis for 38 mins, and Mobley for 36 mins? Because we were playing the Spers, this is a must-win game or something?

Tierre Brown is supposedly on the bubble, and was given 10 mins.

It seemed they played Cat at the point a few times and Steve at two some. Rudy might have been testing their defenses against these different guard looks. Guard is our biggest advantage against them, Rudy may have just been experimenting with the best ways to attack their very good defensive schemes. Maybe, maybe no... ;)

Good question. Then again, Duncan played 33 minutes and DRob 35.

The fact is, without at least Steve or Cat in the game, we're still not competitive against any team right now. Steve's quoted in the paper as saying both teams wanted this game. I'm not disagreeing with you, just speculating.

kidrock actually showing some CONCERN for Steve and Cat? I figured you'd be happier than J-Lo's nipple tweaker if Steve and Cat got injured.

My guess is that Rudy already has his lineup set and doesn't want to waste minutes on guys that won't make the team.

This doesn't bode well for Tierre Brown. He didn't handle San Antonio's press very well last night

I was just as surprised at Robinson's and Duncan's minutes. Almost as surprised by their minutes as I was by their nice comments about Yao.

I thought they were just trying to show Yao more of the offense that he will see during the season. The more he watches Steve and Cat, the faster he can contribute.

Starters minutes may be up because we are at the end of the preseason and teams may be wanting to settle some on their rotations.

Because it's the second to last preseason game and coaches want to get their players use to playing regular season games again. It's the same reason the Spurs played their starters a ton of minutes. The Rockets have played 6 preseason games and god knows how many practice. If they don't have a clue who they do and do not want to keep then they're in trouble anyway.

Ok, guys - those who are on the bubble have already been determined whether or not they are to be let go. Most of them will be our Joe Smith guys who spend the year on the IR until there is room for them on the active roster.

The major players are going to start getting regular season minutes. It's ball time, and we got to start getting our players game ready and running this NEW OFEENSE..... HELLLLLLOOOO!!!

Brown is not on the bubble. It is clear to me that both teams wanted to win. I take comfort in the fact that we lead most of the way and were missing some key players.

This game felt like a regular season game. I feel that both teams wanted to win this one. Plus, we only have one more preseason game to get tuned up for the regular season.

Potentially injuring key players right before the start of the season, is not worth "winning" a preseason game.

Rudy is building team chemistry for the regular season. It was nice to see some semblence of an actual rotation out there.

If that's so, then why didn't anyone else play more than 27 mins (Hawkins, more than likely a backup, if he makes the roster at all)?

Unless of course, by actual rotation, you mean just Francis and Mobley, like they were our 2 man team last year.

We really dont have much more time to prepare for the regular season. Our stars need to be playing most of the game at this point. Look at every other star on every other team.

    From last night:
    Nowitzki played 37 min.
    A. Walker played 40 min.
    P. Pierce played 40 min.
    J. Rose played 36 min.
    S. Marion played 43 min.
    S. Marbury played 41 min.

These are just a few. Every single team is playing their stars the majority of the game. This is not uncommon.

So why don't we play the other starters for around 40 mins?

And why do the stars need to be playing most of the game at this point? Because other teams are doing it?

If anyhting, the stars are the ones who need it the least.

    Eddie played 38 min.
    Kenny Thomas is injured.
Cato's time was cut because of Yao.

The stars need to play most of the game because they will have to when the season starts in less than a week. Do you actually expect them to play 20 min. a game, then all of a sudden play 40 min. as soon as the season starts? They have to work up to the playing time they will see when the season starts. You obviously dont know what you are talking about.

But the other starters don't need conditioning? I guess you know it all now...

    What other starters?

We covered francis, mobley, thomas, griffin, and Cato.

There are 5 starters per team.
