They are losing because they have a over-hyped player in Carmelo who will never win a championship no matter what point guard they get on that team.

With the Nuggets playing as they are, is it possible that maybe, just maybe, we're on the brink of an Ewing Theory so massive we cannot even fathom how big it's going to be? It's like, off the Richter scale and stuff...

melo + amare is even worse than melo + iverson.

this is why you never put together one-dimensional stars. you should always have at least one all-around star.

can you believe their record now is actually worse than us? even with the east being comparatively weak.....

Wow....i guess it's still a team sports and the knicks are having huge problems finding their chemistry...

They trades offense for offense when they needed defense. When either Melo or Stat are inefficient, they're screwed. Felton, Chandler, and Gallinari were having career seasons too, look how solid Denver has been. Pretty dumb to let go of Corey Brewer too.

Jared Jeffries will lead them to victory.

They are losing because they traded away any semblance of defense they might have had. As much as it might irk Pringles, defense is half this game, and when you ignore one half of an entire side of the floor, you tend to not be so successful. His lack of defense puts an IMMENSE amount of pressure on the offensive side of the floor because if his team is not scoring, they have absolutely NO shot at winning. Other teams can usually withstand offensive droughts because they can rely on defense to get some stops, but not the Knicks. They have to be scoring pretty much continuously to have a chance at winning a game.

cmon guys, you think the knicks are gonna win it all this year?

getting melo is just part of the plan. with billups, melo and amare on board, free agents would love to play there. i would love to flip billups and other players for CP3 and okafor if i were in their shoes.

I guess CP3 and Okafor are gonna play for dirt cheap , they still wont have a bench and .... who's gonna defend and rebound on that squad ?

The Knicks are obviously a work in progress. Getting Melo is a PART of their plan and it's to be expected that they will struggle now. Next year NY will be a bear.

In the meantime we might just be fortunate enough to move up a few spots ....gotta close out the season strong though!

I would hardly call Jared Jeffries and Ronny Turiaf superstars.

Nah. IMO, the problem with AI + Melo was more AI than Melo. Just look at what happened when Billups was brought in. AI had to have the ball 99% of the time and everyone else got cold hands. I'm not saying Melo and Amare will work well together on offense, but it's possible if the Knicks have a good floor general running the show that both players respect.

On defense, forget it. Amare will get some blocked shots helping out and Melo will D-up every now and then, but neither guy has the focus to play good defense over a long period of time. They also don't have the right coach.

I don't watch the Knicks that often, but it seems like Amare and D'Antoni have a decent relationship. I have a feeling that Melo and D'Antoni may not work out so well. IMO, George Karl has forgotten more about basketball than D'Antoni knows. Even though Melo and Karl clashed, Melo has to know within himself that he's stepped into an inferior coaching situation and that will make it hard for him to truly respect D'Antoni.
