...and I will be the first. Due to the nature of this sniper case, it was assumed that the perpetrator was white primarily because of profiling. I know how outraged I get because of the profiling of black men, and the same principle applies in this case. I'll admit it, I thought it and apparantly I was wrong. Positive race thread?

Traditionally, it seems that most nutcases have been white males....although lately, it seems that the common thread with nutcases is Islam....but you can't really tell that by skin color. Anyway, I don't think an apology is needed.
But in this case racial profiling could have hindered the investigation. Point well taken... the important thing IS that they got the bastards, now it's time to pay.
Great gesture, AB. I want to wait to see if they've got the right perps. Seriously. For what it's worth, I had kind of unconsciously assumed a white perp too -- still could be true. And I love the idea of a positive race thread, but as a mostly white guy here, I'd have to say white guys have been historically injured in this country at about 0.00001 the clip that other groups have been. (Uh oh. Hope I haven't chummed the waters for Trader Jorge). Still doesn't make the assumption right though. If they've got the actual sniper, apology accepted.
Since I don't walk around thinking, "I'm a white guy, how does _______ affect me?", I don't really need an apology. Thanks anyway though. It's a nice thought.
After the trial and sentencing whatever it may be, do me a favor TJ(trust me I'll never ask again for this)... "CASE CLOSED" ...deal?
Actually the police thought it was a Hispanic guy or a foreign guy because he had an accent. They never assumed it was a white guy because they even said they didn't know the perpetrator's nationality.
I deserve no apology nor do blacks deserve any ridicule over the race of one nutjob. If anything I think this goes to show that Americans regardless of race are more alike (even in the bad things we do) than ever before in our heinz57 society.
No the police said he had and accent. In fact I was looking at some news Channels (I think Fox News), and they were speculating on whether it was a foreign person, or whether it was someone faking an accent to throw off the police. Besides I hate having to apologize for some sick freak. The majority of serial killers are supposedly white and I definitely don't want an apology from a white person because it's not their fault, it's that sick freak's fault.
